Capcom refugees from the recently-closed Okami developer Clover have been moved to work on Resident Evil 5 and Keiji Inafune's mysterious Wii project, Capcom has confirmed.
"Some of the team that worked on Clover titles are now helping Takeuchi-san on Resident Evil 5, helping Inafune-san on a new title for the Wii", Capcom's vice president of marketing Charles Bellfield reveals to Gamasutra.com.
"I think it's very much the skill set still stays in the company when those individuals stay and, unfortunately, three individuals chose to leave," he said, referring to Clover veterans Shinji Mikami, Atsushi Inaba and Hideki Kamiya who left Capcom to form new studio Seeds.
"What actually happened is Mikami-san, Kamiya-san and Inaba-san chose to leave the company and do something else and the rest of the Clover team was just incorporated back into the rest of Capcom's development talent pool," he says.
Apparently the move wouldn't have a caused a big shake-up for the respective teams, because Capcom doesn't have dedicated strict boundaries between its development teams. "Everybody does work on a variety of content and games at Capcom," Bellfield notes.
With a good few years of development and an even bigger team pushing things along, we can't wait to see what sort of state the new Resi is in. But will it be able to live up to number 4 without Mikami's direction? Our fingers are crossed.
Well at least we know the RE5 is actaully progressing even if it is painfully slow
I don't mind that it's going to take a while to get the game out but please Capcom give us some more info on the game PLEASE!!!! some new screens would be nice
Yeah!! Can't wait to draw various weapons of zombie-eradication with the new cosmic paintbrush, then pull off crazy combos to get the best score! Veiwtiful!
To be honest I'm not looking forward to RE5 at all. It's here when its here... I've never played RE4, but heard it was fantastic... Perhaps that's why I'm not anticipating RE5. My last RE was Code Veronica on Dreamcast. Anyone recommend RE4 (probably all of you), and if I buy it, should I go PS2 or Cube?

i do agree on the cube version being superior graphicaly to the PS2 incarnation but kudos for the team on the converstion... get which ever is cheaper mate
opps...almost forgot to say it's one of THE best games out there in terms of production...classic!
'chokes on his pancakes' Go for the cube version, the extra gun realy isnt good compensation for the drop in graphics you see in the ps2 version. that and there is just something really satisfying about hitting the A button to do all the different actions. The voice acting hasn't really improved but which ever version you get your stuck with it.
Agreed, I own both versions I feel the superior graphics and the controller make the cube version. The game was built around the cube controller with it's instinctive buttons and perfect analouge sticks. The PS2 version just didn't feel as solid.
PS2 has slightly more content than the Cube version but I agree for the best control & feel while playing the game the Cube is the 1 to get classic game you wont be dissapointed Fallout

Considering the GameCube came out quite a bit later than the PS2, one would expect it to have rather superior hardware. I hope that we all knew that the GameCube was a better piece of hardware, so this just does not sound surprising. Games developed specifically for the GCN will look better than the same game ported over later to the PS2; whereas games developed specifically for the PS2 will look better than the same game ported over later to the GCN. And since RE4 was initially developed with the GCN Exclusively in mind and has an engine and art assets tailored to exploit the GCN's strengths and downplay its weaknesses, this shouldn't sound surprising.
i love resident evil.resi 4 was best game ever gears of war doesn't even compare to the absolute pleasure of playing resident evil 4.i hope you can customise your weapons to a greater degree and use more melee weapons in 5.hopefully they can make a nice terrifying nemesis/hunter/tyrant style monster.
