It's time to rev-up that dusty Lancer this weekend, as Epic Games is assaulting Xbox Live for some Gears of War deathmatch action - and you could be the one to kick Cliffy B's well-groomed arse.
Mark Rein and Cliff Bliz-eszinski (as Snoop Dogg would probably call him) will be heading up Epic's team of combatants, who will be battling on the recently released Old Bones and Raven Down maps this Saturday 24th from 7pm.
So unless you've got anything else on (like a house party with beer and maybe, girls) then here are the gamertags you should be searching for:
Mark Rein, Vice President - EPICEMEAMR Cliff Bleszinski, Lead Designer - EPICEMEACB Rod Fergusson, Producer - EPICEMEARF Lee Perry, Lead Level Designer - EPICEMEALP Jim Brown, Level Designer - EPICEMEAJB Dave Nash, Level Designer - EPICEMEADN Ray Davis, Lead Programmer - EPICEMEARD Joe Graf, Programmer - EPICEMEAJG Rob McLaughlin, Programmer - EPICEMEARM Pete Hayes, Artist - EPICEMEAPH Additional Epic Staff - EPICEMEA01, EPICEMEA02, EPICEMEA03, EPICEMEA04, EPICEMEA05
Hmmm.....be quite good kicking their bottoms at their own game.
I may also take the chance to question them on their quite ludacris idea that people shouldn't be able to play ranked matched with their friends. It used to be difficult to get in the same game even when the host's name was there...now thats disapeared its stupidly tedious to find the same game. Most therefore have stopped trying however its important to note that this has not detered most of the games so called clans. The result being that nearly every game now has a clan on the cog team and a bunch of strangers on the locust making it nigh on impossible to win a match. That wouldn't be the case if you could invite your friends in to take on these clans.
But no...well done Epic, you made a blinder of a game then royaly f**ked it.
It's like that to stop you cheating with mates to get the achievements.
i.e: "Ok.. I'll stand here while you chainsaw me 100 times... then we'll do it the other way around."
If you want to play with friends, play player matches like everyone else does. If you want to play for 'sport' or whatever you wish to call it, play ranked matches.
Now if only they made it so you couldn't see who you're playing with before you start in ranked matches, it'd get rid of the problem of the people who still insist on trying to subvert the rules of ranked matches.
I understand why its in place but you can't start a match until there's at least 6 of you, 4 of which are gonna kill the cheaters. Unless of course people have 5 or 7 friends who wish to do the same thing but that's unlikely. The point is, playing for sport as you put it is really not possible as player matches are meaningless in terms of stats. Don't get me wrong, I've had a lot of fun with a few of the fellas off this site playing gears in player matches but with some of my friends, we like a bit more competition in it so it would be good to play in ranked matches with better players while also contributing to my stats. I remember some people complained on Battlefield 2 MC about boosters but I never really came across it. Wasn't a problem at all I didn't think and I could play in the same matches as all my friends there while building up my rank.
