Mass Effect - mass commotion

Internet reports say June but Microsoft is keeping quiet...
There's been a bit of hustle and bustle surrounding the release of BioWare's Mass Effect this afternoon, as several European websites report a June 22 exit for the RPG stunner - though Microsoft is keeping quiet.

Italian site Spazio Games (we can't read it without giggling either) first reported the date, penning the European release alongside a US exit on June 5.

Other European news ops have since claimed the dates as real, though Microsoft expectedly refused to comment when contacted this afternoon.

Whether they turn out to be right or wrong, the sci-fi effort has long been expected sooner rather than later - especially seeming as the official website has gone into media overdrive.

Fuel was added to the fire when BioWare co-boss Ray Muzyka told IGN that Mass Effect would be absent from this year's scaled-down E3 in July - blatantly because it'll already be out by then.

We recently had the pleasure to sit down and watch the entire first hour of Mass Effect in action and couldn't be more excited. Look for our full write-up on that soon.

We will of course be the first to shout from the rooftops when Microsoft starts jotting on the Xbox 360 release calendar.

Yes please. The release schedule for the XBOX has been kinda boring for a while. GRAW2? I've got the first one, thanks. Crackdown was nice. But other than that, I've been bored. Overlord and Mass Efect are the two titles I am looking forward to until Halo 3, let's hope they deliver.

Its not been a bad year mate, we had Lost planet and crackdown as you mention.

Starting end of next month its going to be hard to find the money to buy the darn titles, let alone play them all.

Mass Effect (naturally, check out Prima website, they have the release date end of may for the strat guide so wont be far after that), Devil May Cry 4, Colin Mcrae Dirt, Forza 2, Bioshock, C&C 3, Sega Rally Revo, GTA IV, Blue Dragon, Lost Oddyssey and of cause Halo 3.
Im quite sure any console manufacturer would like to be rolling that lot out in the next 8 months.
If thats Microsofts strategy to keep people from buying other systems, its working well with me (tho I do own a Wii).

AND what about next year??? Well Too Human SHOULD be doing the rounds, Alan Wake, Alone in the Dark 4 (if its not out this year), Assasins Creed, Halo Wars and hopefully.....the second part to Mass Effect, plus a possibility of Fable 2! There the ones we know about, I'm certain a few nice little supprises will be showing at E3 (the watered down version).

All in all, some quite TITANIC titles there, and yes they will all be going down rather nicely.

Cant bleedin wait to be honest! Roll on end of April!!!!

The titles you mention are nice, and I forgot Lost Planet, which was a nice effort, you are very right. The thing is that since Gears shipped last november (I still play the game every so often) there hasn't been that much. Fable 2, Mass Efect and Overlord will hopefully be awesome, and the future release schedule looks brilliant, with the little known Halo 3 coming out this fall too. But these past months HAVE been boring.
