GTA IV: First artwork emerges

US Mag provides fresh image of Rockstar's bag boy, while half-confirming the Russian main character
It looks like we don't have long to wait until more GTA IV details emerge following this week's debut trailer bonanza, as the next issue of US mag Game Informer promises ten pages of new info and screens on the massive PS3 and 360 crime-em-up.

For now though, the mag cover image supplied on Game Informer's website provides the first look at Rockstar's official GTA IV art, which sort of half-confirms that the Russian bloke in the trailer is indeed the main character (because they wouldn't put a random thug on the cover of their mag now, would they?)

You can also look for a exclusive GTA expose in the next issue of Official PlayStation Magazine, which if our memory serves us right is in the shops on May 2.

To be honest its the only thug we have seen in this GTA, so they would have to put him on the front cover!

The trailer does suggest he is the main character however I think bringing the Russian formula will allow for much of a dark and gritty version...

Lets be honest russians are not know for their humour now are they? lol

Why a russian i mean why

What is wrong with a Russian character?
creamerybutter on 2 Apr '07
to be honest Why are people so pre-occupied by the race of the character are you people really that racist?

I think the russian culture that could be in the game would make it darker and Grittyer and make for a much more enjoyable gaming experience.

i think the whole russian theme would be good. theres been to much mafia in videogames, and the ghetto scene from SA was a bit crap.
freddybassett on 2 Apr '07
Well wouldnt the italian mafia be better -- godfather style
dandoc2 on 3 Apr '07
mebbe they (i.e. Rockstar) have got some more tricks up their sleeves... like, for example, what are the eastern Europeans now (in)famous for? Why child and girl trafficking and prostitution rackets... so imagine...

"Mission: Go kidnap some girls and get them working for you in the hood."

They've covered all other bases: Italian and Japanese mafia in GTA3, Italian again in VC, and the gangsta thing in SA.

I think Russian Mafia is the biggest of them all, I'm looking forward to placing a call to my cousin Boris back home about some guns.
