Capcom Europe has told CVG that Dead Rising 2 remains a rumour even though details on the sequel have been spotted in Japanese gaming mag, Famitsu.
Internet reports have stated that the follow-up to the company's Xbox 360 zombie splatterfest has been confirmed as being in development in the latest edition of Famitsu, leading to speculation that Dead Rising 2 will be unveiled at a Capcom press event happening in the US this week.
Going by Capcom Europe's comments to CVG, that won't be the case - but you never know.
Dead Rising found a freelance photographer battling zombie hordes in a small-town American shopping mall - rather reminiscent of classic zombie flick Dawn of the Dead.
Plenty of blood and gore was combined with black humour and the game was well-received, although it featured a save system that could cause you to tear your hair out in frustration.

This is good news, I've been waiting for news on DR 2 for a while, hopefully this time Capcom will have multiplayer modes included, maybe even being able to turn into a zombie in multiplayer mode if you get killed.
I would have expected a sequel sooner or later. Million-sellers are almost always guaranteed to have sequels.
Doesn't interest me, unless they make some drastic changes. I hated the original. Hated it. I was so looking forward to it for months, it was at the top of my Xbox 360 most wanted list for so long... Now it's at the top of my greatest gaming letdowns list, along with the Wii, the PSP and the latest addition, STALKER.
My problem with Dead Rising was... well it was Dead Rising. Some great, incredibly fun play mechanics (also known as "killing loads of s**t!" were ruined in my opinion by the way the game was structured. Prohibitive time limits, a single save, retarded rescuees... I would have much preferred a game that was more GTA-like in its structure, i.e. roam free and go to a certain character any time you want a mission, complete that and go back for another in your own time. Rescue missions would be side quests. Saves would be plentiful. It would be one long continuous story, not "finish it in 3 hours and go back to do all the stuff you missed because we forced you to with our time limits". Also, all missions would have a RETRY option.
Thats all. No real point to make. Just needed a good ol' rant.

I have to agree with you about this. All the above points hurt the game IMHO. It put me off it a little but not enough to dislike it!
Just imagine if they fix all those issues for the 2nd one...
maybe you'll actually be able to read the text on a standard television in this one . Played the last one for 10 minutes tried squinting to read what I was supposed to do . Turned it off and took it back .
