Nintendo: No Excite Truck 2

"It seems to have stemmed from an unofficial source"
Lonely fraudsters with way too much time on their hands have put together a press release and screenshots of a supposedly incoming Excite Truck 2, which Nintendo has confirmed to CVG to be fake.

Shortly after the fraudulent press release was published on an industry website, we spoke to Nintendo who made clear that the news was not genuine.

"It seems to have stemmed from an unofficial source," said Nintendo. "We have not announced any sequel in the Excite Truck series."

The game promised to boast an online racing option, as well as race courses on the moon. It's a shame - that sounds pretty cool.

The fake screens cleverly spliced together are below, if you're interested. They look cool, too.

Didn't have us fooled, though. Nope, not for one second... (cough).

Just because Nintendo deny it doesn't mean it isn't out there. Personally i hope it is, the first one was a fantastic racer and an online mode would ROCK!

Thank god for that

I do hope they're making one, I'm tempted to buy the first one, but it seems a bit short... but online plus loads more courses/trucks/modes would rock hard.

Btw Dandoc, get your fanboy ass back in your pram.

Of course they aren't making an Excite Truck 2 yet... they haven't finished making the first one yet, they completely missed out the multiplayer bits, and didn't do the online bits. Plus they didn't finish the AI yet, or put the final graphical shine on the trucks... or their handling. This is probably in reference to some really big patch Nintendo are going to release to fix the half game they sent out at launch...

Maybe when it's finished it will have music too (instead of a 30 second sound loop) and a bit in the racing game where you actually get rewarded for racing!

What a random thing to do, you'd think if they were going to do seomthing like this it would be for a game that people cared about!

Why couldnt ninty have released a really powerful wii with a normal pad -- then it would still be in my house whereas its in CEX

The first Excite Truck was a great game, in my opinion, and there's a surprising amount of depth once you get your teeth into it.

I do think it would have benefited from being released 3 months later, so the later stages of the game could have been extended. Online racing would be amazing.

The first game seems to have sold pretty well, so perhaps a more fleshed-out sequel will be made... and I certainly hope so.

Very Happy Very true i'm afraid.Personally they should pay more attention to giving out franchises to second/third parties and live up to the "Seal of Quality" on the box. Nintendo were the best in console multiplayer but now they are being crushed in favour of online.
Nintendo have to avoid getting complacent Sad

I really enjoyed the first one, but i think they shouldav put a sensitivity option in there as it was very.....ya know.

Anyways, Ninty sez, we havent announced anything.. Nintendo also havent denied anything.

eh? EH? think about it.
