Major UK retailer GAME has been hit by distribution problems with the PS3 version of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, which released on these shores today.
Staff at the Oxford Street branch of the chain told CVG this afternoon that it had no units in stock, adding that a number of its stores are in the same position. They said that they expect to have copies in next week, possibly Monday.
When contacted about the shortage, an Ubisoft spokesperson told us, "As demand for Oblivion has been so high there may be some supply problems with Game and Gameplay, which is why it's temporarily unavailable. However, it still is available elsewhere. Rest assured, Oblivion on PS3 is definitely out today in online and high street retailers."
Yep, other major high street videogame retailers have not been caught in the distribution-problem net. Both HMV, Oxford Circus, and Virgin Megastore on Oxford Street confirmed they have plenty of copies of Oblivion on PS3 in store
My local corner shop,now dables in video game sales,so that's one more place that sells C+VGs,along with asda,woolies, gamestation, tesco,block buster, yada yada yada!

I went to buy this game hoping it wouldnt b more than 40 pounds. Turns out its 50. I know most ps3 games are 50, but for a game thats been out for over a year to be 50 quid i think is ridicolous. I'll wait till it drops in price methinks, or till a 2nd hand version is available.

All the hype about the ps3 and its no different than the gamecube, no games and butt ugly, sorry its worse at least GC had a few killer apps. And ppl talk about ps3 home saving it grow up it hasnt even been lauched yet, if you gave someone in the third world watery flour they would think they had a feast. Rival companies in every industry take digs at each other whenever the chance arises but it doesn't finish with customers slagging off the companies they don't use... infact it's usually the opposite, people will slag off the companies they DO use. How often do you hear people slagging off their own bank, TV provider or fuel provider? Quite a lot. Yet I don't see people who think SKY, for example, is too expensive and have no intention of buying it constantly/religiously harping on about how s**t/expensive it is, and trying to convince the world to not subscribe at every given opportunity. And they don't go on to insult the people who DO think SKY is worth it. Fanboy is too an endearing term for the people it usually applies to. Those stupid whiney, spoiled, bratty scumbags who probably got/get picked on at school, who noone used to listen to, who have now got an anonymous outlet for their stupid whiney attitudes. You'll probably find that the people who are more level headed when it comes to petty little things like console 'wars' are the older ones who actually work, buy their own machines, make their own decisions on what they will/can buy and who can step back and look at the entire thing with an un-biased eye and give criticism/credit where it's due no matter if they own or intend to own the machine or not. And I'm sure you'll find the whiniest voices belong to the little morons described above who's parents said 'no' to that new machine so now that same machine is "s**t... and I'll take every opportunity to make everyone think the same!" My step-uncle bought it for his 360 and the graphics are WAY INFERIOR to my version on PS3, plus theres no option to choose an orc in the 360 version, it's instead replaced by the option to play as a midget (not a dwarf) Now that, in my book, IS RUBBISH. Also theres a bug in the 360 version. Let me tell you it crashes once you reach level 3 UNLESS you obtain Mehrunes Dagon's monocle and keep it in your inventory. Now Mehrunes Dagon being the end boss means this would require a feat of near impossible gaming skill, although my friends half sister completed it in said way so thats how i know about it.

all these problems with Game not getting oblivion on launch day, yet I ordered mine and it was delivered 2 before launch day, i.e. wednesday the 25th of April. Guess I was just lucky.

I've never heard of or had any problem with this so called bug.

I know this is an old post, but there are discounts for everything nowadays, you just gotta know where to look.
As well as HotUKDeals above, I also recommend using LatestDiscountVouchers.co.uk. They only display the official vouchers, but that means you shouldn't get into any trouble using the vouchers they list.
I have only recently bought a PS3, but am well impressed with it. Still need to convince my wife though!
