Kutaragi hints PlayStation 4 plans

Following retirement news PlayStation father says he's ready to "start working with a much wider world"
The father of PlayStation Ken Kuturagi already has a vision for PlayStation 4, 5 and 6 despite announcing his retirement as SCEI CEO last week, he told eetimes.com.

Kutaragi says that previously he has been unable to talk about "the next step" because the PS3 still hadn't launched worldwide. "We've introduced PS3 in Europe, so now I can openly talk about [future plans]", he says.

"As a matter of course, I have the vision of PlayStation 4, 5 and 6, which will merge into the network."

According to the EE Times Kutaragi is also busy drafting up plans for ways to cut the manufacturing costs of the PS3, with design models planned for 2 years time.

After retiring from his position as group CEO at Sony Computer Entertainment Kutaragi says he will still have a relationship with Sony but for the most part will work independent of the company, saying ""Now I'm ready to start working with a much wider world."

Sonys final nail in the coffin, and if they have any sense they should drop the playstation brand as its tainted now I predict that Sony will Cease production of PS3's in July 2008 and work on a console that the people actullay want and a console that I would actully buy.

That was very interesting reading. Makes you wonder what is going on behind closed doors right now and whether or not we'll see any effects, as consumers.

Dump an enormous investment in development and manufacture? Unlikely. I would say the priotities would be working out how to manufacture cheaper PS3s and get a balance of smaller retail price and smaller losses...

I dont know if this entices me or puts me off getting a ps3

ROFL, you think people who spend vast portions of their time ranting on about how much they hate certain console companies have lives either?

No. No, they do not.

Good find. Looks like his love of shiny new things eventually got the better of him when he had total power to use them.

Listen they are all a little bit weird these tech types, I mean if you were dying in the street, who would you want to help you? Ken or that italian plumber? I mean Mario would probably squat down over your head and squeeze his fat pink rod down your throat in one final act of penetrative sacriligious rape. It would be Ken for me anyday........hello.....?

woah, there's something we really did not need to know!!

WTF??

I would go as far as say that Ken Kuturagi is my inspiration into eventually working in the game industry. He battled for the brand, he had devoted his life into a product he saw great potential, if he hadn't done this, what would be of our super consoles now, would we have a next gen system i dont think so some how. For one Microsoft probably wouldn't have made a show if they never saw the amount of money the playstation made. they challenged them with the xbox, and like another thing on this planet one thing led to another, like the next steps in evolution, things must get more powerful.
Basically what I'm saying even after retirement when most might call that a life and sit back and die, he loved what he did and carry on loving it and thats where progress kicks in we will improve on things, and in case you lot didn't notice the sales of the ps3 at the same period in time of the ps2 putting sales lines together has improved by a large margin. I hope i do see playstation four as well as another xbox, competition is the back bone of this industry, no competition means laziness, and high prices.
I respect this guy for is achievement in life and hope to achieve something with my endeavor.
