Two-time FIFA World Player of the Year Ronaldinho will be the face that launches a few hundred thousand FIFA 08 units come autumn for Xbox 360, PS2, PSP, DS, PC, mobile and for the first time PS3 and Wii. No platform is safe...
"We're proud to call some of the world's best football athletes our partners. The access, guidance and insight they give us means that FIFA 08 will create a next gen experience that not only looks authentic, but that captures the emotion, finesse and beauty of the game," said Joe Booth, senior producer for FIFA 08. "Through sessions like today, and the continued investment in our next gen football engine, our world-class development team continues to revolutionize the authentic gameplay experience."
Barcelona's buckteethed wonder-kid Ronaldinho will front the box and he'll be joined by Miroslav Klose, Sergio Ramos, Andreas Ivanschitz, Tranquillo Barnetta, Florent Malouda and Frank Ribery. The players appearing on the cover of FIFA 08 in North America and the United Kingdom will be revealed next month.
Many players appearing in FIFA 08 have already taken part in state-of-the-art body motion capture at a private facility in Barcelona. Body movements, individual moves and playing style of each athlete is being captured and digitised for the game.
"Ronaldinho and all the FIFA 08 cover stars bring a passion for the sport that is raw and true. They enjoy helping us bring that real-world experience into the game," said Matt Bilbey, International Director, EA Sports. "Their expert skills, commitment to success and passion for football inspire our development team and help us make FIFA 08 the most natural-feeling football videogame in the world."
FIFA 08 is being developed by EA Canada in Vancouver. You can read our exclusive interview with EA's director of football here where he talks about how much online will play its part in the new FIFA game.
Another year another FIFA. I can see it now its gona look gorgeous on the next gen consoles but you still know its gona be out classed by the uglier but infinatly better Pro Evo, I just hope sea bass makes Pro Evo look like a proper next gen.
Ok, so Ronaldinho may have been the best and most popular player in the last 2 years but his name and ability has faded this season. Surely we should have the likes of Kaka, C.Ronaldo etc...
i won't be buying it (pro evo 7 '360' for me)but,i wonder how this'll work on the wii? pro evo is also rumoured to be in development so this, along with the more arcade-y mario strikers, could be a good testing ground for future football titles for the format.
Just a thought, but what will they call the fifa games after fifa 09. Can't be fifa 10 because there has been more than 10 fifa's. Fifa 2010 sounds a bit over the top. They should call it fifa again. Then they won't have to change the name ever again(!).
Are the marketing guys at EA Sports covertly working for Konami? Because if there's one thing that would stop me picking up a game, it's his handsome face staring at me from the shelf
Well, that was money well spent. Stick a picture of Steve Bull on the front and I might be tempted to entertain the merest possibility that I'll almost probably will not buy the game.
Developers complain that games are too expensive to make these days, buy will happily pay for some mirror cracking footballers mug on the front.

I always thought in a more arcadey, mario strikers-tastic type of game, you could enter 'skill mode', and use the wii-mote and nunchuk each as feet. And do skills and s**t with them. It sounds like wishful thinking I know, but it's just an idea. Also, on an even more unrelated note, why could'nt you use the wii-mote and nunchuck as hands to save mega strikes in MSCF, beats just pointing surely.
