EA resurrects SimCity

SimCity 5 to be revealed in next official Games for Windows magazine
A new game in the much-loved SimCity PC series is to be revealed in the next official US Games for Windows magazine.

Seeing as the mag's not on the shelves yet, we know pretty much sod all about the new SimCity. But according to a listing on US retailer Gamestop, the fifth instalment is called 'Sim City Societies', which suggests a stronger focus on the people living inside your virtual metropolis.

As for what we'd like to see in SimCity 5, a shift in focus to more European cities would be nice, and if it actually ran on our aging PC rigs that'd be fantastic.

Keep your eyes on the internet, as the first details and media will inevitably leak within the next few weeks.

UPDATE: Maxis is not developing Sim City 5, instead another developer will be taking over duties. You can find the first game and developer info here.

i can ea introducing online play with sims, you build a city, then create a sim and you can they go live and work in your virtual city, and share this city with thousands of other people in an online community.

Me personly want to see more tools and more planning items for you to build your cities with, more landscape tools, custom building should come back, better tax raisning ability (i.e sales tax, vat, fuel tax, airport tax, local income tax) allowing you to control these means in an online type game, you could make your city far better for people to move into while raising more money to make your city bigger.

Thats what i would like to see.

I've always liked simcity as well. Trouble is, I just can't get away from my 9x9 grid technique.

As long as they don't go down the expansion pack route, as with the sims 1&2.

Just imagine Sim City Societies: Red Light District Expansion Pack. Create your own zone of filth, with brothels and shops to satisfy your every need.
