Epic VP Mark Rein has said that we won't be seeing anything of a Gears of War sequel at E3 next month, responding to yesterday's rumours that a trailer would be shown at Microsoft's pre-E3 event in Santa Monica.
Yesterday a story claiming to have uncovered all of Microsoft's E3 goods swept the internet. In that story was mention of Epic Games showing some form of Gears of War 2 trailer. To that we said a Gears 2 trailer was, "Unlikely. Unless Epic is shooting out a quickfire follow-up out the door, it's just too early."
Fansite Beyond Unreal got in touch with Epic's Mark Rein who said, "We are not announcing a sequel to Gears of War at E3 this year. Did you see the update we just did for Gears of War last week? We're still working on the first one."
The thought of Gears 2 really doesn't excite me at all, the first was fun for a play through but apart from the graphics and overuse of the A button I really dont see what the fuss is about...your still just shooting ugly monsters with big guns.
I loved GOW it kept me glued right to the very end so I would love a sequal all these updates they are releasing are cool but i don't use em seeing as how my 360 is not connected to live
Cant honestly say that i think anyone with half a brain cell actually believed it. I see it as a good thing. Epic are at least giving the customers more for their money. Half of the game devs just release a game and never update it or add any content to it after that.
Not really, the fact that they are charging us for it (800pts for maps) so we arent getting more value for money
I think we are mate. We paid 800 points for one map pack....and that was microsoft's doing. We've also had the first map pack for free, a new multi player game mode for free, a million patches and a complete update with new achievements and removal of most of the glitches, as well as weapon tweaks and stuff I nor anybody else actually cares about....for free.
So all in all, most of us have paid what? about £47 for the game and updates together? Seems like good value to me. Its also kept me playing since launch...so I can't complain.
Gears Of War was the reason I bought y 360, and personally I would rather them take their time and do a sequel properly rather than throwing out something just slapped together to try to cash in on the originals success. But with all of the refining of GOW through updates (which unfortunatley for me I cant get as im not connected to Live) leads me to believe that they wouldnt just throw some piece of cash-in garbage out into the stores anyway. Fingers crossed though. It would be good to fight in a full on battle field and see a fullblown war, but im not keeping my hopes up like I didnt with Terminator 3 (I was hoping for a movie full of the actual war against the machines, like the opening sequence to T2). Oh well, I can always dream.
Loving Gears this weekend... was playing co-op with my oldest mate who moved to Aus a few years ago.
His first time online with his 360, proper.
We were very happy men
Aaii, my friend played a 360 for the first time and it was Gears of War online, he was a ps3 owner, but he was pretty much blown away by how good it was!
