Mario Party 8 was due to hit shops this Friday but has been delayed by Nintendo who says it "has a production issue with the English version".
Nintendo told CVG: "Nintendo regrets to inform customers that it has a production issue with the English version of Mario Party 8 which has resulted in the UK launch date moving to 13th July 2007."
Nintendo did not disclose specifically what the issue was, but did say: "We are working hard to rectify the issue to ensure this fun, family party game can be enjoyed as soon as possible."
The lack of first-party support for the European Wii borders on embarassing if you ask me.
As a Wii owner, I'm fed up with the lack of quality releases and that fact that we have to wait months and months for them. I have actually cancelled quite a few Wii game pre-orders in favour of buying stuff on the PS3, 360 or PC due to the length of time they take to arrive here. I was going to buy Excite Truck, I ended up cancelling it; I was going to buy Mario Strikers Charged, I ended up cancelling that too; had Elebits (Eledees) pre-ordered and that got cancelled. I currently have Trauma Center: Second Opinion pre-ordered and will likely end up cancelling that as well as it's been nearly SEVEN months since it was released in the US! I was originally very keen to play all of those games but by the time they're released here my interest has waned to the point where I no longer want to buy them!
For goodness sake, Nintendo, get your act together!

I couldn't agree more, though Excite Truck is a good budget purchase or a buy and trade game for a couple of weekends.
I've been thinking and saying it for some time now. As gamers we are all aware of the games that come out in the US and even most of the Japanese releases, so we hear about them and get excited about them at the same time as the rest of the world.
So when the games finally get released we don't really care. Paper Mario and Trauma Centre are getting that way for me now, i was excited early in the year but right now i'm losing interest.
The whole worldwide releases argument about translating is tiresome, everyone else manages it and even Nintendo themselves did it with Twilight Princess.
I love my Wii but if this continues through summer i can see the Wii as a whole in Europe dropping in sales pretty fast.
We'll always get our games released last. Always has been that way. Asia first, America 2nd, Europe 3rd.
Worse than that was when I had my SNES and games were released in Japan and the US, then never made it over here at all!
But all of those waiting should be pleased that they're actually bothering to sort out problems before release. Waiting is annoying, but less annoying than finding out your game doesn't work
