Soldier of Fortune to be resurrected?

Rumoured sequel, Soldier of Fortune: Pay Back, to crack heads with the BBFC
Rumour is circulating that Activision's ultra-violent Soldier of Fortune FPS series is set to make a comeback on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

According to Worthplaying, Pay Back is currently pencilled in for a November release.

E3 is being eyed for an official announcement on the sequel.

Activision was unavailable for comment on the rumour at the time of writing, so we'll just have to wait and see.

It's been a good few years since the last Soldier of Fortune game, Double Helix. The series was notorious for employing the GHOUL technology that allowed players to blow the limbs off enemies. Quite what they could do with today's hardware...

Soldier of Fortune? Re-make with extra-pretty graphics and dismemberment? *drools*

Rock on! The OTT violence in the original was funny as hell!

Finally! If this is true...

AWESOME! Twisted Evil

However, the ONLY thing remarkable about this game is the dismemberment and level of gore detail. If they take that away, it's got nothing. So don't.

Sof2 was great. Played the Mp for years. I've been waiting for a sequel for ages

I'm trusting Activision have Raven back on board for it... Otherwise I'm not so sure.

i actually got sof2 on pc running again yesterday. great game. the best fps ive played. love the shotgun! its refreshing blasting humanoids and the appropriate injury is inflicted. i dont find it OTT, its basically what would happen. i find fps games where the targets are aliens or whatever and the weapon is a phaser gun really boring. the dynamics and reactions in this game are realistic and makes for a great experience. well placed shots are a tactic. its dating a bit now but still great fun; a 3rd game could make for the best in the series by far. hopefully nothing gets toned down as it adds to the experience.

note- after many sof hours under my belt i still dont feel like taking a 12 gauge to peoples limbs, but i DO still feel like replaying the game. coz its a beast!

I am soooo with this guy ^

This has to be true... I have been wishing this would happen for ages, and with the current hardware... damn. Hope it doesn't get banned though Sad

It's not quite what we hoped for ....

Quoted from another site...

A post in the Blue forums from Kenn Hoekstra, formerly of Raven Software, is suggesting that Soldier of Fortune: Pay Back is indeed in development, but not by Raven Software and it is considered a value-price project, being published by Activision Value.

Value-priced Confused It'll be some rehash of SoF then or something. It might not even be on the PC.

/cry
