Wii Lightsaber controls revealed

Lego Star Wars enhanced for the motion controlled Wii Remote
When the Wii Remote was first revealed, some though of tennis while real gamers thought of Star Wars - an FPS Lightsaber would be the thing of dreams.

A re-release of Lego Star Wars might not quite be the game we all dreamed of, but it'll raise a fair few smiles with its new Wii-enhanced controls. While most of the fighting commands can still be performed by pressing a button, they can be powered up further with motion control.

The building of objects with loose Lego bricks (done with the Z button) can sped up by moving the Wii Remote up and down - emulating the motion of the little Lego Man's arms.

Force powers are also done with Z and similarly can be powered-up by directing them with the Wii Remote, while moving the remote from down to up with blaster-type characters activates their grapple hook.

Wii Remote waggle is in there too, predictably serving up the basic attacks, as well as batting away incoming laser fire with Lightsabur characters, says GameSpy.

Like we said, not quite 'The Dream' and the fact that it was designed for an ordinary controls seems to show, but it could be fun.

Its not like theyve had to make this game again -- it wil just be the 2 gamecube games stuck together and adding the wiimote isnt exactly hard

Im looking forward to seeing this game in motion with the wiimote but my hopes arnt high

The title got me so excited... Sad .Now I know how those people felt when they saw that article on shigsy's letter with the picture of the pikmin.

no, No, NO!

New game. The Wiimote IS my lightsabre. One on one sword fighting action was done in WarioWare not to mention the one on one controls of the baseball bat in Wii sports. Just do it like that.

This Lego Star Wars game is not the game I have been looking.

Don't get me wrong I love Star Wars Lego and the Star Wars universe but I have both version on the Gamecube, the xbox 360 version for achievements.

The idea of full on dueling with Vader et al has gone for the time being....

has absolutely nothing to do with being lazy,is that what you tell your mum, that the Wii is good for you,and thats why she let you have one?

360 has this
achievements
co-op
downloadable stuff
better graphics

so an extra fiver is well spent IMO

I agree with these points and dont forget they are remaking it for the 360 with the Prequel Lego Game included however I am intrigued as to how this will play! Very Happy

Lucasarts are making a light saber game, but right now its only internal.

I am getting bored now of games being re-released as "wii" titles with a little bit of movement from the remote.
I mean okay less mini game style games and stuff that actually uses the wii remote in great ways.
But developers are taking the easy and lazy option by bringing out old games for the wii (scarface??)

I await new stuff like mario galaxy with baited breath

Adventure, excitement, a Wii gets not these things!
Wozzakl on 9 Jul '07
Can CVG please stop with these tabloid like, "sensational" headlines?

Here I was thinking that I missed the announcement of the Wii lightsabre game and was about to read about it. But instead, I read about a remake of an old game we can live without with added Wii-remote controls.

Please CVG, you can do better than this!

But don't lose the one's like "Games companies "boring people to death", says EA", best laugh I've had all day. Very Happy
