Pre-E3 whispers say MGS4 will be a timed exclusive for PS3. Microsoft mentioned just about every other game under the sun at its E3 press conference expect Kojima's highly-anticipated action game.
It was only yesterday that rumours of Metal Gear Solid 4 being released for Xbox 360 hit a new high. Konami's head of US and European operations, Kazumi Kitaue, said that even though Metal Gear Solid was born for PlayStation, and the firm would like to keep it that way, steps may have to be taken.
We can only presume that he means steps taken to make the game multiplatform to cover the cost of the game's lengthy development cycle.
A source has told CVG that , "Kitaue is constantly trying to force Kojima to drop the game's PS3 exclusivity, which Hideo refuses point blank to do. Trust me MGS4 will be a PS3 exclusive for for months at least."
Microsoft's press conference focused on games that will be released this year (apart from Resi 5). There was no mention of MGS4 and 360 which makes us believe that Sony is still holding tight to the franchise. If it was coming to 360, Peter Moore would have made a massive song and dance about it. He didn't, probably because the deal's not been signed yet.
Maybe the steps that were taken were Konami putting pressure on Sony to lower the price of the PS3. Maybe there will be a short time while Konami see if sales pick up and what sort of a buzz there is after E3 before a final decision is made.
I expect that MGS4 will be PS3 exclusive for quite a while as the developers see how well sales go , and if sales go well then it might not ever make the transition to 360...If sales arent as good as they hope though, a transition will probably be made but months after the release ...

okay, mgs4, Im sure sony wont let microsoft have this game, its too important. think about it, there are hundreds of thousands of mgs fans out there, and its the main reason people would buy a ps3, much like final fantasy 13, and heavenly sword that looks better and better as time goes by. but if ff or mgs sway to microsoft, then sony have already lost the console war. sony cant make the mistake of letting this go.
but think abouit 360 fanboys, there is no getting away from the fact that ps3 is a more powerful console, and kojima always uses all of playstations potential (per se the vibrating controler, pressur sensative controls, think of the "s**tty" sixaxis). It wouldnt make sense for it to go to 360. besides, dont you have gears of war to play with?
That said, its not fair for sony fanboys to get away from debates, by falling back on ps3s power- wich isnt being tapped yet. its true microsoft has deep pockets to buy them exclusives, but I feel that in the future, games have to get better and better, so there will be a jump of abandoning 360 for ps3.

well the first two metal gear games arrived on the MSX(so it wasnt born on the playstation)
then metal gear solid 2 substance came to xbox,and metal gear solid the twin snakes came to the gamecube...so keeping them on playstation isnt really a factor anymore

Gears Of War : I think very possibly, as it is already being converted to PC, a PS3 version is inevitable.
Mass Effect : Ok not an Xbox exclusive but I reckon this will make the transition, as it is developed by Epic who are making Unreal Tourny 3 on PS3.

Right one thing Gears of war will never come to PS3. Second thing MGS4 is designed completely around PS3 hardware right down to the six axis function in the PS3 controller if it were to be ported it would be like 1-2 years after it came out for PS3. Plus if it did it would s**t on 360 why because it was designed around the PS3's hardware not the 360's. Also

Your living in a dream. No chance of either of those ever making it to PS3. Mass Effect is being developed by Bioware who also made the Xbox exclusive (except for PC) KOTOR & Jade empire games. It's being published by Microsoft & its their answer to FF, Bioware havent done anything for Sony since MDK2 in 2000 and well the list goes on. Gears is basically along the same lines. Honestly to quote a fellow poster "i'll eat my left nut" if these ever see the PS3.

Your are free basing to the 12th power. The PS3 will never die. Sony conference is today and I'll bet my life that they have numerous things to announce that will be very incredible. You call yourself "The Watcher", then go and watch your 360 give you the 3-4 red lights of death while the PS3 continues to pick up steam. All I have to say is: 33% failure rate. What the hell is this? Non news? You're reporting because someone said nothing, with all the stuff being announced today what was the point of this article? Peter Moore also didn't say Halo 3 wasn't going to be an eye toy game, quick whip up a headline!
My fault, I meant Epic made Gears Of War. Epic have Unreal Engine 3 running on PS3, they are making UT3 for PS3; a PS3 Gears Of War is inevitable.
As has been said - Gears is *published* by Microsoft Games, pretty much sercuring it's exclusive status for 360/Games for Vista (or whatever it's called). Same for Mass Effect, the only exclusive I can think of that could end up on PS3 eventually is Bioshock - But 2K keep insisting it's PC and PS3 only so *shrugs*.
He probably didnt mention it simply because it hasnt been confirmed yet. There is no evidence to suggest that it will never happen.
^^ I agree, i own both consoles but i think it would be very stupid for konami to just release it on one console when you consider how much it is costing to make.
Relax guys n gals, its going to go to 360 3-6 months after releasing on ps3. Long gone are the 12 month + exclusive deals. Face it, its cost a bomb to make, Konami have a good working relationship with M$ and it would make obvious business sense to have it on 360. Dont forget 'money makes the world go round'

Nowhere in that paragraph does it say MGS4 is not going to the 360.
They started designing the game for only the PS3, so to port it over to the 360 would require many months of dev time, it has got NOTHING TO DO WITH LOYALTY or some exclusivity deal with sony and everything to do with the development cycle.
Considering the PS3s low installbase, its just ludicrous to believe a 3rd party developer will not port this over to the 360, it would sell more copies on the 360 than on the PS3, and unless Sony are paying the developers money for the exclusivty it makes NO BUSINESS SENSE to keep it on only one platform.
My bet is we see MGS4 on 360 6 months after the PS3 release.
