Hideo Kojima has revealed that Metal Gear Solid 4 will be the last game in the series he's involved with, and that the latest outing for Solid Snake will act as a grand finale for the influential stealth games.
The story of Solid Snake will end, Kojima said, and all the mysteries of the series will be revealed in Metal Gear Solid 4.
He went on to explain that it'll be a stealth game but takes players into the battlefield, and he promised that he's putting all his effort and experience into the title.
A new Metal Gear Solid 4 trailer that was shown revealed it'll be out early 2008 with a worldwide simultaneous release.
Just been watching the conference. Trailer looked good. Sony also seemed keen to point out it was still PS3 exclusive. My guess is Sony forked out the cash to keep this exclusive for a limited period. Hopefully this will eventually make its way to 360 as I'm sure alot of people will want to play this game but not waste Ł400+ on one console to play it.

yeah XBOX fanboys keep saying that MGS sucks... wait till they get their hands on it but the Xbox version will need some downgrading (pls dont attack me, its the truth) also it wont be the same experience as Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots on PS3... i bet that Kojima will be loyal to his favorite console.
I always have respect for people who say there's going to be a definitive end to a game series, but it never seems to happen, and then the quality markedly degrades.
I have my doubts that the Metal Gear license will go away completely, it'll probably be like when they moved from the original Metal Gear series to the Metal Gear Solid series, Solid will be ended and a new series will begin, maybe, if not millions of fanboys will weep many tears over its departure.

I own a 360 and I will admit this game looks amazing. I'm a fan of games, not a fan of consoles. I also agree, it will be different if it does make its way to 360. From what I hear its the sound thats going to be taking up over 10GB so I guess they could just compress that down to 5.1 and make some changes here and there. Hopefully some improvements as well ala VF5.

I own a 360 and I will admit this game looks amazing. I'm a fan of games, not a fan of consoles. I also agree, it will be different if it does make its way to 360. look guys, who said mgs4 is going to 360 in the first place? no one, thats who. sony are keeping both hands gripped on this franchise, so I dont think il be seeing it on the green side. cmon, 360 has loads of neat games, gears of war was frikkin awsome!!, but now sony needs aaa games, and now it has one, besides, its where it belongs anyway.
kojima, I salute you (until when your gone, ea will take the franchise from konami, and ruin the series. mgs is a game developed from love, not from market reasearch)

Downgrading? Oh you mean they will have to make it run at only 30FPS on the 360 as to match the 30FPS of the PS3? You're a typical Sony fanboy sucking at the teat of lies and loving every minute of it. Feel free to explain the weak assed Killzone 2 clip to me then. Could that have been any less spectacular? The characters mouths looked like they were all drooping from having had a stroke not to mention the overall crappyness of the whole clip. P.S. since it is 2007 I prefer my characters to NOT have a mullet. Snake looks like an aged Billy ray Cyrus in his latest outing.

I think any self respecting gamer will admit that some point in the future, MGS4 will appear on 360. Even by early 2008, PS3 won't have a big enough userbase to generate the sort of profits Konami needs so they will naturally release this on 360 when the exclusive period is up, just like they did with MGS2. I understand 360 has lots of killer games and PS3 needs some, but in this generation developers need bigger profits to accomodate the rising costs of development. Just look at Lost Planet and Gears Of War being released on PC.

Personally cant wait to see Raiden die! Just hope that with it being the end of Snake story its not the beginning of MGR (Metal Gear Raiden) fill in the missing story of Raiden & why he's ninja!?! God No..... lol

I'm a massive fan of the series however I'd be more than happy to see an end to it, just as with any series; be it TV, film or games.

Aaah... comparing crappy, lazy ports to a game buit from the ground up on PS3... Good move.
And then having a go at Killzone... Even some of the biggest MS lovers in this place have dropped their fanboy shields for a second and tipped their hats to Killzone, conceding that it looks pretty sweet...
Though some are still clinging to any tiny little bit of negativity they can wrap their stubby little fingers around.
Id put money on now that MGS4 is staying on PS3 and it wont EVER make a move to the 360....face it 360 has had some killer games enjoying the glory until the PS3 was released now PS3 have a game which is a console selling game!!!
Oh and anyone slating the recent killzone 2 trailer is simply deluded as i saw the halo 3 trailer the other day and graphically it cant compare with killzone 2
I think Killzone 2 and Halo 3 both looked exciting, especially considering they have so much hype behind them. But I think Kojima's MGS games will be a real loss to gaming in general, his focus on storytelling and innovation in an industry that more and more relies on repetitive franchises and copy-cat titles is a breath of fresh air. At the same time it's nice he has the guts to end his series, rather than keep trotting out a character that will earn him big money regardless of quality. Can't wait to see how he brings down the curtain.

actually i like all 3 consoles, but the 360 diesnt have Blu-Ray, no Cell Processor so the game will need some downgrading. Kojima has always used the consoles' power to the extent I wont be surprised if MGS4 will have competing graphics with those of PCs in the next 3 years.
