Prototypes of the new rumble-enabled PS3 SixAxis controller have left SCE and been sent out to various Sony developers, reports Inner Bits.
The industry insider site says it expects the new controller will probably be announced in the next few months - on or around the dates of Leipzig Games Convention or Tokyo Game Show. We could've told you that without "industry insiders" though.
Going by Inner Bits' word, the new SixAxis is getting more updates than just vibration. Controller sensitivity issues have been adjusted, says the site, and Sony is "quietly replacing the original controllers" with the better hardware now.
Any early adopters (that's everyone on CVG) feeling a little bitter?
How can CVG be bitter, what's there to be bitter about, Everyone updates and refines their stuff at later dates it's not like it hasn't happend before.

Yes but others haven’t left out key features in the first place.

yeah but not 9 months after its release...wish i waited instead of waisting my money, im sure sony will come good sooner or later but lesson learned for the next generation for me !!!!!
thought being an early adpoter was meant to be a good thing- f**k buying a new sony console within the first year of release again. so if id waited i would have better controllers, a 20 gig bigger hard drive, and an extra free controller and a free copy of motorstorm. And it just sits there unloved looking like a george foreman grill...Oh well at least it looks shiny...

Nah mate, the early adopters are always dumped on. End up paying over the odds for early revisions of hardware when there are hardly any games available... It's the price one pays for having it first. E.g. non-rumbling PS3, unreliable 360, horrible boxy DS instead of nice sleek DS Lite...
The only time I can think of that early adopters have actually been rewarded is when Microsoft dropped the price of the original XBox and gave out freebies to everyone that had paid the initial launch price.

Glass half empty!
Glass half true (if by half you mean completely)
pulls a moonie at Mark, farts, scratches his bottom, then leaves
One of the main reasons i didnt want to buy a ps3,seemed ridiculas to me. Evan more stupid motorstorm developer saying you dont need rumble because the graphics are so good. I am a total sony ps fanboy but they havn't done a very good job promoting and implimenting the positive aspects of this console, should of had basics like rumble sorted before they released, bloody idiots.

looks shocked then puzzled then realises they must have left one of the gates open at the local zoo .
hmm.. so presuming the pads cost about £30ish and early adopters maybe buy 2 of these beasties.. the price of the ps3 (to early birds) has gone up by £60.
way to go!
i wonder if you can send your old pads back and get the new ones cheap?
Guted for PS3 owners. Now they have to pay aound £30 for something that should have been standard from launch. Also, they should change the far shoulder buttons so they are like the 360's. Its much more suitable for FPS and driving games. Just can't believe they are still using the same scheme they used for PS1...

as someone up top remarked...the original PS had three different contoller configurations...(i still have my original-no anologue-no dual shock)which i sometimes lend out (for pro evo etc) you can never have enough controllers (even if some are lacking) and the ps3 can accept 7 controllers (granted i like my blu-tooth headset, mic, cam etc) i'll fork out for one...then my mates can use the inferior ones till i decide to upgrade again... ( i agree on the R2+L2 triggers mind...make them concave as oppossed to convex)
How can people complain about paying another 30 so many months after it coming out for a new pad? Its as stupid as the bigger hard drive. You can put your own size drive in it! You moan when there ain't a rumble pad coming and you moan when there is one coming. No wonder sony had a hard start to this gen. No one is ever happy!
