GC: Oh boy, it's six new Killzone 2 shots

See 'em while they're hot!
Early 2008 is still the only date we have for Sony's PS3 flagship FPS Killzone 2, but never mind - because we've six new screenshots right here for your viewing pleasure.

Let's hope that, unlike its PS2 predecessor, Killzone 2 on PS3 doesn't disappoint.

The game drops you into the combat boots of Special Forces veteran Sev who's got a mission to secure Pyrrhus, Helghan's capital city. Cue plenty of violence.

Looks decent. Hopefully you aren't limited to the enclosed street corridors we have seen from the video and now from these images.

The guy in the 6th picture is a blatent rip off of the dude off gears of war --- graphics look a little rubbish if you ask me

Unreal tournament looks better and shrper.

Little Big Planet looks better and sharper.

Gears of war easily looks better (excellent enviroments etc).

the 2nd picture looks like a PS2 game....

Humminer Humminer Humminer!!!

Bye bye Halo 3.... Killzone 2... come to mummer!

You guys are showing you know very little if you think that the graphics look s**t!

If you have any idea how much it takes to get a game engine pushing that then you would understand!

As for other games, they don't have anywhere near the amount going on that this look slike it has. Gears doesn't have destrucible environments (barely any physics stuff!) nor does unreal, and little big planet deosn't have to process anywhere near the info this game does, as there is very little on screen so can afford real radiosity, and other post procesing effects!

Easily the best looking game i've seen on console, and maybe pc!

Don't see any resemblence. Killzone 2 characters actually look proportioned compared to Gears anyways. And if the graphics look so "rubbish", perhaps we should pull out some shots of Halo 3 and Gears then and we'll see some "rubbishness".
MarcuFenix on 22 Aug '07
agree with you ther marcufenix.

gears of war, looked good, but a bit 'doom 3' as in bullet decals and that was it.

halo, dont get me started. maybe worth a budget Ł20, but certainly not spending 40 of my hard earned ones on it.

to my eyes this is impressive looking, although i admit it can look dodgy in still shots, it looks very nice in motion.

It's obvious that this guy is dumb, deaf, blind and very stupid. He also sounds like an Xcrap 1.2 lover. Killzone 2 is killing the competition already, and it's not even out yet. Halo 3 looks like the same as the last 2 Halo games, but with a glossy sheen to it. Gears isn't proportioned in anyway. The campaign was short and the multi-player is repetitive.

Like the guy who made the quote above me stated: " Pull out some shots of Halo 3 and Gears, then we'll see some "rubbishnes." Ohhh, how I agree with you!!! Very Happy

LOL STEP AWAY FROM THE HYPE YOUNG MAN! Killzone 2 looks fine but it doesn't look any better than Gears and the mouths look awful. I hope it plays great as the PS3 folks have been getting completely screwed with games. Just don't be SUCH a fanboy that you can't see past your own console. You're tossing around a bunch of jargon but it all comes down to looks and play. It looks "good enough" so we'll wait on how it plays.

When i see the over hyped Halo 3,and KZ2,all i can think of is that song which has a line that goes "
CLOWNS TO THE LEFT OF ME,JOKERS TO THE RIGHT,HERE I AM ,STUCK IN THE MIDDLE WITH YOU" !

As i've said before ,this KZ2 video demo /screens might have looked something special over a year ago,but technology and talented software developers have since caught up,and passed that year old graphical fmv/pre-rendered showing.

And unless the KZ2 developers can somehow produce or add something a bit more unique/innovative to the title ,then they will see a repeat of what happened with their previous outing .

Duke nukem forever ,you've got competition for title of " game's that have been in developement for quite a while, with little ,if anything to show for the delay ".

The power of ps2 ,with black, was capable of destructable environments ,so what could possibly be taking so long to prevent this game coming out?

It's a fairly old, simple type of been there done that game, featuring army type men, shooting other combat type people, with lots of copy and paste elements ,from the book of "how to make a game featuring guns and the millitary, for Dummies".

Unreal will be out long before, and will put this where it belongs.

You kids are crazy.

Killzone 2 obviously looks fantastic. To my trained and naked eye, with 25 years of gaming experience, it looks the mutt's nuts. Gears of War may look pretty but it's nothing compared to what is going on in these shots. Sure, I'll have to see it moving to truly compare, but I'll bet a bag of balls that it's a bigger game than the feeble jaunt that was Gears of War.

And I'd like to add that giant red text only highlights the appalling grammatical errors made by the writer. If you can't write a simple piece of text without it coming across as the rabid raving of a coked-up horse, then it has no value or weight what-so-ever and should be ignored by all who are unfortunate enough to stumble upon it.

But is it just all polish and crap all game play? Don't judge on graphics, its game play that counts. Any who, games that get less hype are usually better, take Bioshock for example. Now there's a game that I want...
KGB7777 on 23 Aug '07
Ahem, Bioshock hasn't been hyped eh? You are a fool sir.
ledickolas on 23 Aug '07
Bioshock had hype for good reason - its developer has good pedigree. Kill zone 1 was by all accounts not very good.

anyway, having good graphics doesn't make a good game. in my opinion it doesnt look any better or worse than most games coming out these days.

on halo 3, the environments are much larger than the small corridors in these shots so graphics potentially wont be so sharp.

Your a moron.... for your information I work in the industry as an artist and I own a 360 not a PS3.

It looks much better than gears, animation sampling rate, destruction, filters, the works. As for slagging the mouths?????

Your right with waiting to see what it plays like, but there is no doubt that it is the best looking game about at the moment.

I'll reserve judgement till I'm playing it, but I defy anyone to say this looks s**t????

Personally, I prefer the colourful aesthetic of Little Big Planet to the gloomy Killzone. What's got me anoyed, though, is the fact that a lot of people have got caught up in the excitement of good graphics, all the while forgetting that the original Killzone was a major dissapointment. It had linear levels, terrible story, even worse characterisation and, most of all, bad gameplay. Killzone 2 looks good but it still seems to be obsessed with invisible corridors; something that really frustrated me with Resistance. I'll just reserve judgment until I see something has changed.
