It's only just over two weeks to go now before Sega Rally wheelspins into your local games emporium, and Sega has decided to pop the bonnet on four new cars that feature in the game - the Mitsubishi Concept-X, HUMMER H3 SUV (Customised), the McRae Enduro, and the RUF Rt 12.
You can view the vehicles in the screenshots we've uploaded, and Sega has also provided the following information on each motor...
Mitsubishi Concept-X With a nose end inspired by a jet fighter this is the concept vehicle for the next-generation of the Lancer Evolution Series, this fantastic car makes its video game debut in SEGA Rally. The production version of the Concept-X will have a 2.0 litre turbo-charged engine, a twin-clutch transmission, a further-developed all-wheel-drive system and a lightweight all-aluminium bodywork.
RUF Rt 12
The words Lancer Evolution have become synonymous with the sport of rallying since the car first launched in 1992 and the Concept-X has paved the way for the release of the forthcoming Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X in early 2008.
McRae Enduro The brainchild of rally champion Alister McRae, the McRae Enduro is a new rally car concept that combines outstanding driving dynamics and modern turbo-diesel power with the extra traction that comes with a sophisticated suspension set-up and four-wheel-drive.
The rugged McRae Enduro has been designed to compete in the most extreme off-road events including the FIA Cross-Country rallies, Baja-type events and the gruelling Dakar Rally.
Having first met with the SEGA Racing Studio early in development of SEGA Rally the relationship was made stronger when SEGA Racing Studio's Lead Car Artist, Keith Burden, became involved in the design process of the McRae Enduro, offering his skills and advice on the look and shape of the McRae Enduro. The McRae Enduro also makes its video game debut in SEGA Rally.
RUF Rt 12 RUF Automobile GmbH is the producer of high-performance vehicles, specialising in the manufacturing and enhancement of existing sports cars to RUF performance specifications. The RUF Rt 12, available to purchase with either a four or rear-wheel drive train has advanced aerodynamics and handling characteristics. It is one of the fastest and most desirable SEGA Rally cars boasting a top speed of over 200mph.
HUMMER H3 SUV (Customised) You wont find this beast of a car in any other game because it's been modified, with approval by GM, by Lead Car Artist at the SEGA Racing Studio, Keith Burden. HUMMER is one of the very few manufacturers to allow such extensive customisation for a game and Keith has pulled out the stops to produce a real monster for SEGA Rally.
RUF Rt 12
Beginning as a standard HUMMER H3 SUV, Keith removed the rear doors and dropped the ride height, brought the wheel arch up a touch and tweaked it further to allow more space for wheel clearance. Keith then added Rally-Raid influenced wheels and tyres. The H3 is currently the most popular HUMMER model, with its compact design making it especially desirable within the American market.
Sega Rally is out on September 28 on PS3, Xbox 360, PC and PSP.
Can't help thinking that this game has been a bit overlooked lately. I think this is going to rock my world, just over two weeks to go and my anticipation is approaching fever pitch baby!!!!
Well it should be interesting if nothing else. Btu I wouldn't be racing a Hummer. Everyone knows those are designed for long treks across dirty terrain, right? So their steering is crap. I wouldn't want to be trying a rally course in that...
I can't get excited about this as I do not want any disappointment... I hope they throw a demo on Live.
I thought that too until I watched some videos. Sega Rally 2 was a minor disapointment and the PS2 version was meant to be terrible. But this is made by a new team and after watching the videos and seeing how the cars handle it looks great and really dont see how they can mess it up this time. I do hope they put a demo up though just to put my mind at rest. I'm dreading getting this home and it turn out to be s**t
Put the actual gameplay aside for one moment but is it just me, or does this game look s**t? I'm sorry, but I remember when Sega Rally (1&2) were in the arcade's and it had some of the best graphics goin for it, especially during that time, but now I just feel like I'm seeing footage of a Wii or Xbox 1 game. True, it may handle well, but come on Sega.. This is the Xbox 360 / PS3 the graphics should be amazing!!! - and there just not.
Hopefully it's just me being blind, It might be different when I actually see it running, but so far Dirt looks much better.

Dirt (on 360 at least) was a screen tearing, jerky mess at times. Sega Rally looks smooth as a babys bot. The mud in dirt did'nt have anywhere near the same squidginess of Motorstorm. Sega Rally improves on Motorstorms mud. Dirt did not have online races. Sega Rally does.

i dont think it looks s**t, it looks great, but the problem is the home front has caught up with the arcades so there is now wow factor now when you see a conversion or even a fresh racer that's not in the arcades. i'm not sure where these racing games can go as all they can do is improve on the graphics. that said i'm still playing power drift on the final burn emu on my 42" high def and it's a stuning game and had more arcade feel than anything i own on a consol.
