All eyes are on Sony whipping out the rumble-enabled version of the SixAxis controller at the Tokyo Game Show this weekend, as rumours reach a climax on the net.
Word is that Sony will showcase the new controller, along with a new version of PS3 firmware that enables XBM browsing during gameplay.
It wouldn't surprise us. Developers reportedly received rumble-enabled controllers themselves at the beginning of August, and despite Sony denying it, strong evidence suggests those controllers to have been in developers hands for around six weeks now.
CVG contacted Sony UK, who knew nothing of Sony Japan's plans for TGS. Expect more from Kaz Hirai's keynote speech this Thursday.
Cool Im first, I realy hope sony replace all the controllers for people who have already bought ps3, and I bet they make a massive point of having rumble again!
More back tracking from Sony, its funny now u'll see all the PS3 owner who said they didnt care about rumble, now praising it's return... i think playing games without rumble just takes so much away from the experience, i could never understand Sony stance on this.

Because they had no choice... they were tangled up in a lawsuit and couldn't include it. Also, I'm a PS3 owner and I've never once said I didn't care about rumble... infact I miss it a lot.. especially after playing on the 360 for a while then going over to the PS3. Hopefully it'll add a well-needed bit of weight to the pads too.

But Sony said that Rumble was last gen. Now they say Rumble is was last gen but now it is not. You are correct to say that they were in a lawsuit, but they could easily have just paid the money like MS did and got rumble in their pads from the start and did not have to lie about how crap rumble is.

WOW! you must have recorded every PS3 owners reaction to every news post and compared them to find the contradicting points of view.
Or maybe its the fact that some people don't care about rumble and some people do?

Its all business, they are hardly going to say just before launch "Yeh its a real shame its not included with PS3, it makes the sixasis worse than the dual shock" . Instead they added another new tech to the controller to make the best of a bads situation.
Plus saying rumble is last gen does not say its crap, its stating a fact because the latest gen doesnt have it. lol

The 360 & Wii have Rumble, arent they the latest Gen??... what are you talking about?.

It is not business it is an attempt to cover up a massive mistake! And wow they added a very poor copy of some of the Wii features (again after also stating how rubbish they were).
And what would you consider latest gen in your obviously intelligent opinion? As far as I am aware the other two latest gen consoles have very nice rumble.
hopefully they will make the controllers sturdy again. i have broken 2 already they are so flimsy, u can actually squeeze them out of shape if u hold them firmly in your hand.. cheap s**te!
take the b******s six axis feature away and dump it - it was nothing more than a pointless, unused gimmick.
and the xmb during games is sorely missing, catch up sony!!
PS3 is only less than a year - Geez, give Sony a time!

Obviously your not intelligent enough to understand this is a topic about Sony controllers not MS or Nintendo controllers. I'm talking specifically about Sony Console controllers. The last generation Sony console was PS2 it had rumble, the current gen Sony console PS3 doesnt, there for rumble is last gen could be taken as a fact. Just standard PR spin. Comprende?
Generation = successive iterations of a product, and in this case specifically Sony.

Because all PS3 owners share the exact same opinions, right? Those people that say they don't want rumble couldn't possibly be different to the people who are saying they do want it? Were you being serious or are you just narrow minded?
I've always disabled rumble where possible. It takes me out of the game when my hands start shaking, but that's just my experience with it. You need to learn that people have different opinions, and you can't group them as "XBox 360 owners" or "PS3 owners" when talking about things like that.

The original comments from sony that stated rumble was last gen were aimed squarely at the other lastest gen consoles as has much of the tripe sony have been saying in the last 12-18 months. Therefore commenting about the 360 and Wii controllers is perfectly in context.
Generation in the context of Consoles is and has always been a referal to a number of different manufacturers consoles all released around the same period of time. Eg NES and Master system; Megadrive and SNES; Playstation, N64 and Saturn; PS2, Dreamcast, XBOX and Gamecube etc.
God I thought Apple fanboys were blinkered but they seem to have nothing compared to PS Fanboys!

*Yawn* In YOUR opinion they were aimed squarley at other lastest gen consoles, but Sony never stated that, you just heard what you wanted to hear. So you can continue to ride on your "Sony is the devil" bandwagon.
Speaking of bandwagons, you finish your post with the tired old "fanboy" accusations. Try thinking for yourself sometimes instead of following what everyone else says.
Firstly i'm not a fanboy but i've been a PS owner for many years. The fact is Sony are a multi-million pound company and why would they publicly come out and say that the controller they have been shouting about it's greatness could be greater but we're up to our necks in a lawsuit and don't want to pay for the tech.
Personally i'd like to see rumble come back as it adds to some genres atmosphere's like FPS or driving games. However i'd like Sony to give something back to the early adoptors who may have even bought the value pack so will be stuck with two controllers that wont give get the best out of their games. I've only got the one but the reason i've not bought another is that i'm waiting until they release the rumble one!
i couldn't care less really,i don't own a ps3 but how much are these pads going to cost? will early ps3 adopters be looked after and get 'upgraded' for free? no. it's another reason to hold off buying one,let them sort some proper pads first.

I owned many of the consoles that have been released over the last 26 years including the PS1, PS2 and PSP so if I am a fanboy of anything it is of Gameing in general. I do however have a problem with the way sony have done things over the last couple of years and am wise to the way they release statements. Why on earth would they state that rumble is last gen (in reference to the fact that they deem it unimportant to the latest gen) if it was not having a dig at the competition? Sony do not say anything that is not in someway a dig at someone whether it be their customers or competition. Remember that "People should have to work hard to afford a PS3" comment when people were complaining that it was too expensive. The point is that suddenly rumble is very latest gen when they want all ps3 owners to shell out for the new rumble pad!
The 360 & Wii have Rumble, arent they the latest Gen??... what are you talking about?.
Wii? Latest Gen? Don't think so, it's graphics are worse than the Gamecube!
This shows how little you know about gaming. Graphics do not make a good game neither does next gen mean the best graphics you could ever see. The Wii is very latest gen in it's innovation and the graphics are certainly not worse than the gamecubes (which were very good anyway). The Wii has almost 3 times the power of the GC and this can be seen in Metroid Prime 3 and Mario Galaxy. Lazy developers will always jump on a good thing and produce absolute chaff. It happened on the PS1 and the PS2, there were many games on these systems that looked worse than the last gen of games, but there were also many games that looked great too. I get fed up with the amount of people that dismiss a game due to the fact that it either does not have any blood or its graphics are not amazing, a game is defined by its gameplay and only by its gameplay. No amount of graphics can make up for a bad game (Rise of the robots anyone) but great gameplay can make a game with poor graphics a must play game (Vib ribbon, lumines).
Great news about the rumbling SIXAXIS, that's one of the things stopping me from buying multiformat games on the PS3 and not the 360 (although devs need to ensure PS3 games have anti-aliasing and smooth framerates before I'm totally convinced!!!).
Not bothered about ingame access to the XMB personally but if it makes others happy then that's good.
if you think by having the best graphics makes you the latest gen, then the PC has already made all console last gen!?
i agree with this! But, if you think the wii remote is latest gen, your an idiot. motion sensing controllers have been around for a decade!
Also im quite unsure about your reply to someone who commented starting with "its business.."
You do know these companies want to sell the most right? you do know they are hardly going to say there product (or controller) isnt as good without a feature theyre competitors have right? that would be the most stupid business move ever most probably!
Surely, technically, determining which "Gen" something is is down to the release date and nothing more. .
i dont know if your agreeing or disagreeing with me here! But your comment is right - and like i said motion sensing controls have been released in the 90s already.
Also why are some off you guys sticking up for Sony, They could have added in rumble if they’d just payed Immersion like Microsoft did.
Don't MS have shares in Immersion or something?
Yep. "While Microsoft settled out of court, purchasing a 10% share in Immersion,[3] Sony continued to defend the case" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immersion_v._Sony

While i do agree that overall gameplay makes a game, graphics play a massive part in the overall atmosphere/experience of a game, just play Doom and then Doom3, same game in nearly all respects but which one makes you scared to turn the corner, makes the hairs snooker cue up on your neck when the lights go out? Just imagine how much more immersive Metroid 3 would be if it looked like Bioshock or Unreal Tourny 3!
I guess you could apply the same about playing bioshock wiht the wiimote....ahh well, when in rome.

Yes, it is latest gen. No, the graphics are not worse, that depends on the developers. Even Factor 5's big bloke said that developers weren't pushing Wii's graphical capabilities.
Just imagine how much more immersive Metroid 3 would be if it looked like Bioshock or Unreal Tourny 3!

Just imagine how much more immersive Metroid Prime 3 would be if you actually aimed the gun yourself, rather than using an analogue stick... oh, you do. Metroid's graphics look fine to me. Some games like BioShock may look amazing, but too much detail means lower frame rate (and it does stutter occasionally, and yes, I have finished BioShock).
