Viva Piñata PA: surprisingly good

Try Microsoft's party spin-off for yourself in Xbox Live demo - it's surprisingly good fun
A demo of Microsoft's multiplayer spin-off Viva Piñata: Party Animals is up now on Xbox Live.

We were having a bash (ho ho!) at it last night and it's a really good laugh. It's not going to win any awards, but the mini-games are good fun and if you get hold of the new pink controller you can try and persuade the missus to play (one step closer to the Halo 3 co-op dream...)

It's up now at 971.12MB.

Unlike last year's Viva Pinata, this game is most certainly aimed at kids because apart from the two decentish Mad Dash Racing levels, the rest of the minigames are mediocre at best and none are enjoyable.

It's exactly what you'd expect a party game to be like so that's either a good thing or a bad thing depending on your point of view. Personally I found the whole thing shallow and dull apart from aforementioned racing levels. It's more suited for the Wii in my opinion where the controller at least would add some fun to the whole experience.

It does look very pretty though (although the v-sync tearing in the racing levels is inexcusable). Definitely a no-buy for me but at least it broadens the Xbox 360's games catalogue and helps make it more appealing to a larger audience than fans of FPSs and racing games!

Might have to try it, I'm a 32 year old kid, though PES 08 is taking an age to download, 38% after an hour and half Sad
