BBC gets its Killzones and Halos mixed up

Killzone 2 footage used in the wrong place...
Halo 3 then. You may have heard of it. Launched last night and just about every news channel in the world covered it to some degree. But during a BBC report the firm used footage of PS3 exclusive shooter Killzone 2, calling it Halo 3. Oops...

The report comes in at just over two minutes long, so it must have taken a while to produce. Hit this link and take a look. The boob happens right at the start...

The bbc really are full of crap. Comparing Halo3 to wii sports, is pretty ridiculous, games are created like film with different audiences in mind. Wii sports is designed for family play and halo 3 isnt, just as saw 3 is made with an older audience in mind compared to the family-ness of shrek 3. They just dont seem to get that video games arent just for kids but everyone and that everyone gets games developed for them not just one demographic.

Also lol at the bbc for making such a stupid mistake.

Yeh I noticed that last night on the BBC news at 10pm, but I couldn't remember which game it was.

I bet they wouldn't make that mistake with the latest hollywood film, so I see no reason why they should for a game...makes you wonder what kind of dolts they are employing.
funkyjack on 26 Sep '07
lol, i seen this.

It's about time though - 360 games have been used in PS3 promotions multiple times (ala PGR3).
citizenerasedx on 26 Sep '07
lol, at the end, the guy is playing on the console, and his kid tries to press a button and he slaps the kids hand away.

just found it amusing.

and with reference to the big paragraph in the first post. your arguments against what bbc did, are exactly what they said in the report.

"halo 3 is made for the 15 - 30 demographic, where as the wii is for the whole family"

so your "rant" made you sound like a five year old repeating something as his own opinion

I've noticed for a long time now that the BBC news is getting worse. If they are not plugging there own BBC programs over main news, then it is this kind of ill informed badly reported crap. Why can't they just do a positive report instead of doing far fetched comparisons (Wii sports sell's well cos you get it with the console fool's)and sticking the word 'violent' whenever they can. Popping the killzone footage in was iceing on the cake and just goes to show how the informed the BBC really are.

I'm just waiting to see how long a report pop's up on how Halo 3 has caused some tapped dullard to go on a killing spree. It's been at least 2 weeks since we had an "are'nt video games the route of all evil" stories, so we are due!! Rolling Eyes

Scarily enough, the bbc are told what news to report on by a government organisation. This is so they can control what the mass public has access to. But in the case of game related stories like this they are left to their own devices, hence the screw up.
wudragon on 26 Sep '07
HAHAHAHAHA i have noticed that the BBC seem less than entusiastic with their stories on games which is iresponsible with the claims they make. Autho tbh the same can be said for all the news stations that said Falll of Man was a bloodblath in a church. Its just old people who dont care to find out about "childs games" but hate them cos they make us happy Razz lol

They're just saying that the games aimed at family's are selling better than "shoot 'em ups". It would be like them saying violent horror films are doing better in the cinema than kids films (for example). They're just stating a fact.

Oh, and CVG, that Enemy Territory advert is getting on my nerves! Every time I go to scroll the page down it leaps out and and hides half the page!

The thing is that wii sports is bundled with ever wii sold (by this logic Hexic is the best selling game on the 360), so its hardly a fair example and thus far the 360 has sold more games than the wii and ps3 combined, so really they (family games) don't.
