Confusion still surrounds UT III release date

Midway says PS3 version will now release in early 2008, Epic says late 2007 launch could still happen
In the latest round of release date confusion surrounding Epic's Unreal Tournament III, Midway has said the PS3 version has now slipped to early 2008 - but the developer's informing a Christmas 2007 release could still happen.

Midway has announced a Q1 2008 release for UT III on PS3 in a financial report, but in response Epic's Mark Rein stated that as a public company the publisher felt an obligation to its shareholders to let them know about the possibility of a delay.

"Our goal is still to get the PS3 version of UT3 in stores before the end of 2007", Rein said in a post on Epic forums, but added, "However, we will only ship it once it's ready and is the best game we can deliver."

Rein went on to explain that UT III on PS3 will now feature the same map set as the PC version. Previously, the console version was to have fewer levels.

Speaking further, he said that PC UT III is "still on track for November", and that there'll be a demo released before the full game ships.

An Xbox 360 version of Unreal Tournament III is expected some time in 2008.

No 2008 wait for me. *Strokes PC*

Hope the console one is truly a great experience though. I hate hearing about delays but I like to hear that developers are polishing up things and not rushing until it is truly ready.

Im hoping it'll ship before the end of the year, it's looking to be a truly awesome game. Im not sure the other FPS being released this year like Haze, Jericho and Blakcsite will live up to UT3.

And it would be nice to get a title the 360 doesn't already have for a change!

But i'd also rather they shipped the game as best they could and not rush!

It's expected on the 360 in March but it's guessed you'll have to download the extra maps that won't fit on the disc.

Ahh yes, good to hear the PC one will be out soon, looking forward to it. They must be having some problems with the Unreal 3 Engine on the PS3, so im starting to think that company that is suing them for the PS3 Unreal 3 engine delays might be right

just posted on yahoo games:"Until now Unreal Tournament 3 was being touted as a timed exclusive for PS3. Instead we’ll see the PC version this side of Christmas, in November, while the PS3 edition is expected (key word) to “ship day and date with other versions in 2008.”

i want to buy a ps3, but everytime they have an exclusive, even a timed one, they can't seem to get it right.
C'mon sony, you're standing in front of an open goal, but you keep kicking it into row z!! Evil or Very Mad

Hahahah! This actually made me laugh then. Pretty much a spot on comment.

More justification for me getting a new PC before the end of the year, I feel, especially as I always intended to play a game like UT3 on a PC.

I was tempted to get it on console but I think I'll stick to my good old keyboard and mouse combo. Methinks though it might be time to retire my vid card Laughing
