Responding to a reported quote from Epic president Mike Capps that Unreal Tournament 3 was "just on PS3," VP Mark Rein has reaffirmed to CVG that the deathmatch shooter is still coming to Xbox 360 next year.
"We are going to release UT3 on Xbox 360 in 2008," confirmed Rein.
Regarding the game's performance, Rein explained, "I would think most of the people who read CVG would actually be able to get a great experience with Unreal Tournament III. We spent a considerable amount of time and effort making sure that gamers will be able to enjoy UTIII even with older gaming rigs," he added.
"The reason we put out a beta version of our demo was to get feedback on how well the game runs on older hardware.
"We're trying hard not to confuse users with a hundred different graphical settings and come up with the right balance of installer-selected settings, easy configuration and end-user documentation. The beta showed that we still have some work to do in these areas but that we're making very good progress.
"In addition it should also be noted that we purposely left out some of the higher detail content in the beta demo levels to keep the download size reasonable and because, as you implied, it is generally already known the game runs well on high-end hardware and we didn't think an over-2Gb beta would get downloaded and tested as much as we'd like to see."
The 700mb demo was released over the weekend, and Stu's home PC still can't handle it. Then again, he did build it for Quake IV...
ha all the stick us 360 owners got from ps2.9ers sayin this was only coming out on ps2.9 well its coming on the 360 as well so stick that in your pipe and smoke it
With no mouse and keybaord support = s**te, take that back stick it in your pipe and smoke it some more
Please go away fanboys.. Not too fussed about this being on 360. Will prob sell well due to it being developed by the creators of Gears of War (a tag they will use to hype it), however I can't see this being played more than the likes of Halo 3 or COD4. As for keyboard and mouse, I would hate to ever see that being used on a console. If I wanted to use that control scheme I would go sit at my desk playing it on PC...
It is I, falloutwarchief, resident naysayer! Let the naysaying commence: I'm not interested in this game regardless of platform. One can only stand so much FPS, and Call of Duty 4 will be out around the same time so it's got my cash. I loved the original Unreal Tournament and played it to death, but I don't like the changes, however slight, that have been made to the UT series since then. 2003 didn't do it for me, 2004 was ok but still not good enough, and 2007 looks like more of the same what with the fat armour and lizard people.

i honhest to god cannot believe that i am agreeing with falloutwarchief.
i dont want to play a game i have bought twice before (ut and ut2k4) just because of some fancy graphics, most of which i cant view due to not having a DX10 card/vista.
and the console market is dominated with fps's CoD4 especially (maybe that statement doesnt hold for the PS3) which are slightly more original, very fun to play, and dont require you to subdue yourself to lizard men in shiny armor.
in summary graphics are not everything, and the gameplay in Q3 arena and UT were much better than that of ut2k3 ut2k4 and infact i even owned unreal championship on the xbox. :/

That's pleasing. Although the demo graphics are great, I wasn't blown away like I thought I would be. Even more excited now!
I've not really enjoyed a UT game since Tournament on the Dreamcast, but then my PC could probably just about handle Monkey Island!
Well my PC's not that bad, but basically the only versions of Unreal I've played since the original are the console versions. I wasn't a fan of Unreal Championship on the XBox and The Liandri Conflict was pretty pants too.
However don't ask me why, but I always really want to like Unreal games, so I've always bought the sequels even after being disappointed before. To that end, I've got my fingers crossed for this one!
