Xbox 360 sci-fi RPG Mass Effect has gone gold and, as previously confirmed, will hit Europe on November 23.
It's a title that's been hotly anticipated thanks to it spawning from the development loins of RPG powerhouse BioWare, which has consistently impressed with its role-playing game experiences. Let's hope we're not left disappointed.
Mass Effect is the first part in a planned trilogy, and BioWare's suggested that all three games will remain exclusive to Xbox 360 following the developer's buyout by EA, but of course the future isn't written in stone.
UPDATE: Microsoft also sends word of the Limited Collector's Edition which includes a fiction book titled "Galactic Codex: Essentials", a 36-page guide to the Mass Effect universe, an art book titled "A Future Imagined" and a bonus DVD of exclusive "Mass Effect" background material and additional content.
Given EA's reputation for whoring out any old s**te if it can make ill gotten gains then I can't see this trilogy remaining an exclusive for long and I can hardly see Bioware stipulating a purchasing clause allowing them to keep the title platform exclusive.
EA would roll out a C64 version of this game if they thought there was a dollar to made.
I know they are in the business of making money but they also just so happen to be in the business of making games.
But the EA deal doesn't go through until after part 1 has been released and part 1 is being published by MS so that will stay MS format exclusive (so it might appear on PC). Would you really want to start the trilogy from part 2?

Great news. This game is yet another contender for GOTY and I for one can't wait to get my hands on Bioware's latest masterpiece. As for the future of the series, I doubt EA would risk p**sing off Bioware so my guess is that the series will remain 360 exclusive but most likley be released on PC 6-12 months after release on 360.

Why not? Microsoft did it with Shenmue.
Yeah great example. Except... Shenmue didn't sell, and hence the story remains untold. Not such a great example.

But it did sell better on the Dreamcast where people had already played part 1. I never actually touched my Xbox copy for some reason. I did have it on the Dreamcast though so that's OK. We just need Shenmue 3 now.
EDIT: Shenmue being on the Xbox may have something to do with Peter Moore as he was president of SOA when they decided to switch to being a software only company.
this one it too all of you who says that boshock is overatet: we humans have different tastes! that is what makes our life so varied, so ofcourse people will have different tastes in video games!
so stop saying that bioshock is overatet just because you don't like it, and say it as if it is said be some holy god! it's stupid and daft. i lovvve STALKER! not that many do, and i hate wiiDIOTS but i don't go around and say it suck like that. i know a lot of the daft ones are just children's, but it is p**sing me off!
It will certainly be better than dipping yer nuts in honey and swinging them above a bee-hive. I would still rather do that than have to play Bioshock again tho.
There are going to be many good games this run up to xmas, was playing bioshock but stopped as a game called Halo 3 came along. Still loving it and I think Mass Effect will be the only game to get me off Halo.
