Wolfenstein film on hold

Writers' strike holds up film adaptation, but the script's almost done
The could-actually-be-decent film adaptation of Return to Castle Wolfenstein is on hold until the end of a writer's strike in Hollywood, says writer/director Roger Avary.

Speaking to SCI FI Wire Avary, who also co-wrote Beowulf (the film where Angelina Jolie gets her CGI baps out), said that he "is almost done with the script and am proud of it, but everything as far as the production date and that kind of thing won't be decided on until after all this [is] over. And I fully support the strike."

According to Avary the Wolfenstein frilm will be based on the original Commodore 64 game and will be a lot like an old World War II movie about men on a mission, "but this one will have the addition of monsters and horror and a lot of craziness all mixed together."

We will start it when it is the right time," he said, noting that he's also done research into Nazis and paranormal mischief for the flick.

The man's also responsible for the writing in the quite good Silent Hill film and won an Academy Award for Pulp Fiction with Quentin Tarantino, so we're really looking forward to how Wolfenstein turns out. Who knows, it could actually be one of the few decent game to film adaptations.

A script???? That kinda thing would'nt stop the mighty Uwe bolls releaseing a film. He would just drop his kegs and out would fall a huge steaming dollop of a hopeless crap that he would then film for 90minutes. Release it straight to DVD and then sit back and watch the money come as game fans across the globe stick pins in little voodoo dolls of said pillock! Smile

Here's hoping they get Rowan Atkinson to reprise the role of Blackadder for this film.

The whole thing's bound to be a joke anyway! Razz

It's on hold, that's great news! Let's hope it's on permanent hold! I have a feeling they're going to ruin it.

The movie and record companies are money grabbing pigs!

Just look at the how much they are making Apple charge for downloadable content on iTunes. They should fire some fat cat bosses, charge less and pay more to writers and artists.
