In a fit of generosity, Telltale Games has decided to offer one of the episodes featuring in season one of its Sam & Max episodic adventure series for free.
The episode in question? Number four, Abe Lincoln Must Die. "The President of the United States has lost it. Federally mandated group hugs, a pudding embargo... what's next, gun control? Sam & Max are off to Washington to take care of this bozo, but the political climate will only get stormier... and a new power will rise...", is the scoop on the plot.
Abe Lincoln Must Die helped keep the faith that Telltale hadn't dropped the ball with the Sam & Max adventure series after a disappointing third episode.
I was looking for the logic in that move and then I remembered that this was a Sam & Max game and therefore any logic would be so torturous as to make me squeal in horror.
More Sam and Max is good. Free Sam and Max is gooder.
A very canny move on TellTale's part. Hopefully lots of people will download this free episode then either be inspired to fork up for the rest, or more importantly the immanent release of season two. As for why this 4th episode and not, say, the 1st, well that's a no-brainer - it's one of the (if not the) best of the bunch and anyone who doesn't have a heart made of stone will instantly fall in love with it.
Aye, Abe Lincoln Must Die! and Reality 2.0 were my faves, though really the Season just got better and better as it went along. Can't wait for Season 2!
