Nintendo's free online service has been taken by storm with legions of rockers hitting the internet to face off against fellow five-button guitarists.
Stats for the week ending November 4 show that mighty DS titles such as Mario Kart DS, Animal Crossing: Wild World, Metroid Prime Hunters and even Zelda: Phantom Hourglass were all knocked down a slot when GH III charged in with 622,580 connections, placing second only behind the predictably popular Pokemon Diamond/Pearl games which saw an astonishing 1,455,526 connections.
The recently-released first party war game, Battalion Wars 2, only managed 35,982 connections. Good news for Activision.

Acheivements are like badges for the little 360 Scouts.. either that or crack cocaine as it seems 360 owners can't get enough of them - I honestly don't get it, it's just bragging rights and with GH what's the point? High score and highest note streak should surely be enough. Wii owners can play online just like 360 owners too, short of the better resolution on HDTVs there's not a noticable difference in the game.
True about achievements. I mean for me, I just get them as it happens and maybe sometimessmake the effort to get them. But i know quite a few people who play the games just to get the achievements. Each to their own I gues, but it is rather sad.
Having said that, at least its good to see Wii owners getting in on the Guitar Hero act. At least it shows that when 3rd parties do make games people want, then people will buy them. Not like those who moan that their games don't sell (maybe cos they're crap, ports etc??)

I agree. It's very sad. I'll quote someone that said this about the Wii on here recently "Is that what games are coming too?" It's pathetic actually. I'd hate it if Nintendo went down that path of achievements.
Some of these GH3 gamers either play way too much or I just totally suck cause I've pretty much gotten my assed kicked everytime I go online. Needless to say, I'm still waiting for some DLC now...
So it beat like sixteen games to be second? not that i don't like nintendo wifi its that it hardy give you bragging rights if you came second in the nintendo wifi list. they should have more wifi game before it give you bragging rights. i never knew that BWII was out! when is that coming out here?
