While Sixaxis pads across American are being put through their motion-sensing paces with Lair, UK gamers are forced to wait even longer as Sony tells CVG that the game's European release has slipped... again.
The game was expected out tomorrow, but that's not going to happen. Sony has just confirmed to CVG: "Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, the launch of Lair has been delayed very slightly."
Sony couldn't nail down an exact release date, but reports suggest a release later this month. Fingers crossed eh? Or those dragons will be collecting pensions and coping with arthritis before we get to fly them.
Well... As the game's supposed to be an absolute turd I won't be crying myself to sleep tonight. And there's always ebay for anyone desperate/daft enough to get it, seeing as all the games are region free anyway.
Personally, between lackluster reviews and the huge volume of quality games already scheduled before Christmas, I really couldn't give a toss if it ever shows up. If they had gotten the game out when it was originally intended I might have been persuaded due to lack of PS3 games. Thankfully this is no longer an issue.
If you really want this poor excuse for a game, the chances are it will be on some shelves tomorrow. I find this delay very odd as many retailers recieved the title on tuesday morning. Which means if it is delayed it must mean these copies cannot be sold for some legal or content reason, and surely that is Sony's fault?
Strange... I looked all over websites, and only Gamestation seem to have it listed as coming out tomorrow. Amazon have removed it, GAME have removed it and Gameplay have removed it.
The last one I find pretty strange, as Gameplay SENT me my copy on Monday, and I RECIEVED it Wednesday, it's currently in my room with me as I type *shock*
Yes, someone BOUGHT it, WILLINGLY I might add. Despite the reviews, I will play it and make up my own mind.
Hmm. Sony seems to tell CVG a lot of exclusive information, so that CVG can write more anti-PS3, pro-360 propaganda... Sources?
Nothing to see here. Move along.
I have noted that CVG seem to have become more biased towards certain consoles since the 'old days'..
Surely that's going exactly against unbiased multiformat covering, what they were created for?
Oh come on, CVG don't just make this stuff up to p**s you off pal. If the stories they print don't allways back up your views then maybe it's you that's biased?

WTF are you yapping about. The article is pointing out that the game has been out in the States for almost 3 months now. How much localization does there need to be between there and in the UK? My guess is that Sony must be having some kind of issue with PAL and the game's native 1080p resolution.
All that being said, yeah... the game stinks. Traded mine in the next day. Terrible.

That's an interesting perspective and one I do not share. When CVG writers start telling PS3 owners they can put their savings towards getting a 360 (ref - Tekken 5 DR online), then I see that as biased, even if they are joking.
I might expect PS3 zone articles to be PS3 biased, though I would prefer them to be neutral and fact based with sources and links to those sources intact. Instead, CVG actively promotes the 360 on the PS3 zone, so CVG's neutrality is in question.

Pro 360? well looking at your name its pretty obvious your pro PS3 so sorry the news that this crappy game has slipped does not suit you but its hardly CVG's fault is it.

How about instead of you "guessing", or CVG "guessing", CVG links to their source?

Source for what?!? The fact that Americans have been playing for 3 months? No source needed for that. It's a fact.
Source for it being delayed? Well... considering it was supposed to come out tommorow and now it isn't, what better source is there.

Get over it... a delay isn't CVG's fault.
A delay isn't, but CVG articles are typically "Sony" says this, "Sony" says that... Who at Sony? Where has "Sony" announced this? Even if the title really is being delayed - fair enough (and like most people on here I don't particularly care), it would be good to see CVG back up their articles with some evidence.

This is a website though and advertising revenue will be gained from posting stories that encourage arguments and page views. Therefore siding with the whole anti-PS3 sentiment is absolutely essential for them.

"Siding with the whole anti-PS3 sentiment is absolutely essential for them?" What? I think you'll find that there's a lot of PS3 owners out there who don't agree with anti-PS3 sentiments of any sort. The PS3 is a decent machine with a lot going for it. The 360 has a lot of decent FPS games and the Wii is a lot of fun, but I don't see any merit in panning the PS3 on a PS3 zone! Only a true fan boy would promote another console and completely pan the PS3, so what are CVG trying to achieve? Go look up the definition of "fan boy".

If it is essential for them to side with the anti-PS3 argument, then the reputation of CVG being genuinely impartial and that of Future Publishing being ethical will be potentially at stake. I'm sure Sony won't stand for a website turning against them, will they? *shrugs*
CVG used to genuinely be impartial and focused on all formats. When it had a magazine (when it was GOOD) they covered all formats, giving each individual attention, and if something was s**t, they'd say so.
However, they never resorted to printing news articles about one console, slagging it off and using that article as an excuse to plug another console. The consumer was free an unpressured to make up their mind with CVG giving advice in all areas.
No more though it seems. In their eyes Sony seems to be the bad guy.

Here here.
I have all 3 consoles, and enjoy each for it's own strengths. However I don't appreciate clicking to view a PS3 article I might be interested in, and seeing CVG slag the hell out of the PS3, and plugging the 360. What's more, for no good reason. Tekken 5 DR is brilliant fun and online can only mean better fun, surely PS3 has the upper hand in this instance, due to it being free online play.
Like you said, it does take a X-Box 360 fanboy to plug that console, in a PS3 related article, and plugging it, when there was no need to.
im there with you lord!!! and absolutely true...the only way to get positive hits is by negative information i.e F.U.D ...CV+G is positively excelling in this area as of late...
All this talk of bias is rubbish, when will PS3 owners get over themselves, wake up and smell the coffee? Are all possitive PS3 articles unbiased and all negative ones biased?
CVG used to get letters sent to them, when they were in print, saying they were biased towards the Amiga because they printed more game reviews for it than for the Atari ST. Even though there were 10 times more games coming out for the Amiga, and most of the ST ones were only ports of Amiga games.

You Sir, need to look at the whole PS3 zone of the CVG site again. Show me some positive PS3 articles on here. Just look at what has been listed - or let me save you the trouble.
> Hirai: Home delay is "positive". (A slightly negative spin on a far less biased 1up.com article - go find it here - http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3164229)
> Sony confirms UK Lair delay. (CVG doesn't name their source and then has another go at the late release date, not that a lot of PS3 owners care but people looking who don't have a PS3 might be put off by the persistent talk of late releases).
> Sony blasts 40% PS3 failure rate talk. (CVG refers to a Dutch website who talk about Belgian retailers, could it even be the same Dutch website who said VF5 was being patched by Sega on PS3 to have online?). A source would be useful...
> Tekken 5 online hits PSN tomorrow. (Where it states PS3 owners should save up for a 360).
> PS3 2.0 live tomorrow / No in-game XMB in PS3 2.0? (Yes, I expect a lot of PS3 owners are a bit miffed by that, what about all the other features? CVG doesn't fail to have a pop at what is missing - such as DIVX support which isn't on the other consoles either).
As for these letters to CVG you speak of... Well, did you work for them in the past then? Show us some credentials, show us some of these letters you speak of. Show us some evidence!

Fact is that CVG have been pretty biased for a while now putting negative spin on everything PS3 related. I might get a Wii soon and don't want a 360 but would consider a PS3 in fufture so im hardly loyal to any one format but it is hard to keep a neutral head when a supposedly multi format magazine writes slanted news articles with no intention of informing, just stoking fires to generate revenue.
Watch out C&VG,you know what Sony are like- you'll end up like Lik Sang!
Ah, it's fun to watch the PS3 owners whinge- i felt like that way during the days of the Saturn... and the dreamcast... and to a lesser extent the first X-box. all the gloaty Sony fans mocking my taste in console... but now i'm too old to be a fanboy. Darn.

And where exactly in the article related to this thread does it mention the 360? Noone's playing the fanboy angle here apart from a cagey bunch of PS3 owners.
CVG were just being the same sarcastic sorts that they are with every system. Which is why I like them. Stop being so sensitive people!
Oh my God, some people need to get a life! Source? If they say "Sony have said", then there source is, wait for it... SONY. What more could you need? An actually employee name and his direct line so you can call him up to verify this information yourself? Which again would lead me to the point that someone needs to get a life.
Perhaps the PS3 is getting a lot of stick because it deserves it at the moment. Things are going to get better for it, but whatever rose tinted specs you wear, the PS3 currently is not the best console to own.
It's allways the same arguments from the same type of "people", I listened to them in the school yard 20+ years ago, and I'm hearing them again, now, via the wonders of the "inter-web".
It's like the Vic-20 vs 16k Spectrum wars were only yesterday.
and the Amiga/St, nes/master system, snes/mega drive, Gameboy/game gear.............
*Looks around and sees 360 fanboys cheering...slaps them too*
*Gives up looking for an ounce of sanity and slaps everyone with a rancid trout*
I swear you guys annoy me so much. They are just machines, made by companies that care absolutely nothing about you. If you're in fact an objectophile then I will forgive your obvious bias, but anyone else...you should be ashamed. FOR SHAME!!!
*Goes to once more slap all the fallen fanboys with his rancid trout*

soz mate dont mean to be a pedant ... but it was a 48k spectrum ,plus the fact it was going up against the c64
All you people moaning about CVG slating the ps3 take a look at every forum in every games site, the majority of people think its s**t, it is s**t and thats why its doing s**t.
Its not a games console its a multimedia hub just like sony said and at the end of the day the xbox plays games better with better ai due to it being a dedicated games machine and not having a processor which only excels at floating bit performance/converting.
CVG just going with the flow, and btw i only own a wii
