An analyst for Nollenberger Capital Partners has gone out there and stated that he thinks Activision's awesome Call of Duty 4 will outsell Halo 3.
Todd Greenwald said, "Thus far, the game has an average score of 9.5/10 on Metacritic.com, which is almost unprecedented and puts it on par with Halo 3. It certainly is the highest-rated game Activision has ever created. Keep in mind, COD4 is launching on four times as many platforms (Xbox 360, PlayStation3, PC, DS) as Halo 3 (360 only).
"Halo 3 has so far sold about four million units. A year ago, Call of Duty 3 sold about 3 million units, and we anticipate this year's version could do four million or more."
It could be the new Halo on Xbox Live too, if those connection issues are sorted out anytime soon.
It deserves too, it's a much better game in all honesty. I don't see it topping Halo's Live numbers though, I doubt anything will be beating Halo 3 anytime soon.
It could be the new Halo on Xbox Live if the connections are fixed in the PS3 version? Odd logic going on there That said, the Xbox version does suffer from the occasional stutter online, and people seem to be able to glitch it at will in some cases - happened to me last night when the other team was getting their ass kicked.
Still a fantastic game. The multiplayer maps are really well designed and the challenges keep it interesting without running into the same kind of achievement whoring you get elsewhere. Single player is a little short, but it's still a good story.
i have both. played halo for 1 hour on single player and realised i was playing an upscaled xbox game! live was not that exciting (imo). cod4 on ps3 is flawless especially with a frag fx (nunchuck and mouse) and this has to be the best mulitplayer yet. still to complete the single player but great story so far.

yep, keyboard( or alternative lol ) and mouse all the way
Picked this up on Friday, looks absolutely fantastic at 1680x1050 with maximum settings, and the framerates are just nuts, minimum 45, but the avg is 60 with vsync on
Some of the visuals are just simply incredible
looking forward to the MP aspect when i finally get my net connection sorted in the next few weeks( heres hoping lol )
I didn't have half as much fun playing COD4 single-player as I did any of the Halos. It's good but not amazing gameplay wise... and it's thoroughly broken on Veteran. I did enjoy the single-player more than Bioshock though.
You know I really do despise the people who have played Halo online once or twice, lost really badly and claim the game is awful.
Halo 3 online is a damn hard game, there are a lot of good players out there and it takes time to get into the swing of things. Once you do, the game consumes you and you realise how many different possible strategies there are to winning a match and how balanced the damn game is. Even when you think something like the Ghost is overpowered, you quickly realise that there are so many possible ways to destroy it that mean the right player can take on a Ghost and win easily.
I didn't think I would enjoy Halo online, but once I got past getting my ass kicked every goddamn game, I find myself really enjoying it.
COD4 is likely to sell well, and being a multiplatform game it doesn't take a mathematician to work out the odds are higher for it selling more. However compare it to one platform, 360 vs 360 stats and I think it is highly unlikely to outsell Halo 3. To be honest the single player game is very short and doesn't play that much different than previous COD games. However it does have an atmosphere to it and there are some truly great moments, it's just too short overall and I think shorter than Halo 3. I think the two games are on a par, it just comes down to whether you like futuristic shooters with Alien weapons, or a realistic shooter based on real weapons.
Yes it is "deviant"...and you're spot on "bazza"...but anyone that REALLY believes that COD is better than Halo3 "off or on-line" is either an optimist and saver with the Northern Rock or just a Sonyite & in denial!
From everyone i know who's played it (360 AND PS3) they've said its much better than Halo3, me....i'll wait till Xmas and make my own mind up (still have TF2, HL2:EP2 and Portal to give a good seeing to before then...not to mention my insatiable appetite for Super Puzzle Fighter 2 HD)
From what my mate was telling me today and the way he was telling me (he's usually quite reserved) this does sound pretty frikkin awesome!
Halo is the most overhyped series ever. I just don't see why its got as big as it is. No 3 is pure generic crap and looks complete s**te. I got rid of it yesterday for this.
I have a friend who just won't play anything else (I've mentioned Bioshock to him, another has mentioned Assassin's Creed) and he just says he doesn't have time to play those games cos he has to play Halo...WHAAAT?!?! And he calls me deluded and that I am in a minority of people who thinks Halo's crap. I don't think so.
Anyway, cracking game and agreed its better than overhyped Bungie boring junk
(sorry, I've had a few and am ranting. No offence to anyone!)

Agreed, i have both, and while COD 4 is real good, Halo 3 is just amazing. I cannot understand how anyone can say anything bad about that game, it is near perfect. And i hated Halo 2, so wasnt expecting that much from 3.

Quote that man! Oh, i just did.
Halo's a game designed for people with a pulse is all. Though COD 4 definately looks good- just prefer the setting and art design of Halo- more imaginative.

Halo 3 only seems like generic crap because of the number of games that have copied the Halo formula. Halo has hardly changed since combat evolved, and then Halo was a completely unique fps. So if anything, everything else is generic crap. Also, I'm sick of people saying that Halo looks like complete s**te. You're clearly one of these people who made their mind up about the game before they even played it. It may not have the best graphics ever, but they are not bad, and fit the game perfectly. Halo 3 is a the refined version of a game they have been trying to make for a long time, and the multiplayer is near perfect, provided you can cope with the style of gameplay.
Having said all that, Call of Duty is also an amazing game. Its different to Halo though, and people are going to have their preference. I personally fall onto the Halo side, those who want a more realistic setting will defend Call of Duty. But the reality is that these days its nearly impossible for a fps to be innovative, and as far as I can see both Call of Duty with its custom classes has managed it, and Halo with the forge and saved films has managed a first for consoles, and both games deserve credit for that.

I wouldn't say I'd made my mind up before getting it. I did have fun with it initially. But once I'd done it, there was nothing compelling enough to make me play it again. Even the multiplayer became dull (no real problem with its style). I really don't care for filming stuff on it. Unique feature, yes. Enhances how the game plays. In my opnion, no. The campaign did have some fun bits but it is on the whole generic. There's nothing that stands out.
And the graphics are s**te. When every moans about the Wii getting GC/Xbox/PS2 style graphics, then I'd also want my 360 game to have more than just Xbox graphics. Please don't try to explain why they do look the way they do. I know. Just more effort could have been made.
COD4 is probably the game of the year so far. No bugs, superb frame rates and excellent story line. Installed first time and didnt have one crash. Im on my 3rd play through already. Loved the hidden level at the end as well.

No bugs... are you kidding me. I have yet to play a game online of COD4 without issues, provided you actually can get into a game. It isn't just the PS3 version with online issues, the 360 version is problematic too, check the forums on the cod site.
To those that say COD4 looks better than Halo, I say this, COD4 looks better than Halo 3 hands down, but Halo 3 is by no means a bad looking game there are some truly awe-inspiring sections. Have you played Halo 1 & 2 recently and compared them to 3.... I think you might retract the statement that Halo 3 looks like an Xbox game after you do.
