No age rating on Lair disc caused delay

Discs without age ratings pulled, CVG has learned
The sudden delay that saw Lair's UK release pushed back even further behind the US release was due to there being no age rating on the game discs, Sony has told CVG.

Sony told us last week, on the day before Lair was due to go on sale: "Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, the launch of Lair has been delayed very slightly."

But speaking to employees at UK retailer GAME, CVG has learnt that "the reason Lair has been delayed is because there is no age rating printed on the disk." Whoops!

Discs had to be pulled after the omission of the age rating - which is necessary by law - was discovered, forcing the game into a another short-term delay.

So we're left playing the waiting game again as Sony either re-prints new discs or gets little stickers put on the current ones. It shouldn't be too long, but Sony is yet to confirm a new release date.

Too late - ASDA was selling Lair last Friday.

Judging by the reviews I've read the delay was a blessing in disguise. Laughing

It can't be that bad, can it?

TiggerUK said this was the reason in the last Lair delay thread, and was completely ignored in amongst all the ranting - poor chap!

if only EA kept making this mistake we wouldn't have the same game every year. it would be every year and a half Twisted Evil
ensabahnur on 13 Nov '07
Shame, this was the first game since launch that might have got me to buy a PS3, then I read some reviews, and well..... Rolling Eyes
ted1138 on 13 Nov '07
Parents dont care about the age rating on games anyway so it wouldnt really matter. Not like I care though the game is meant to be very poor

Sega should make a tasty sequel to Panzer Dragoon on 360. Just to show the world how Dragon-based shoot 'em ups are really done!

I got my copy of Lair from Gameplay.co.uk (before they deleted the item off their website) last week, including the disc without age rating on it. Woo!

And anyway.. Sega should make Panzer Dragoon for PS3 as it has more power more space on disc for a much longer game and has the advantage of sixaxis, and it'd be done properly knowing Sega. Razz

IMO only. So no flaming.

Very true. The PS3 would be a better choice than the dated 360 IMO.

Blessing in disguise really. The game is utter pants but sadly PS3 gamers would most likley have bought it for the pretty graphics. At least this delay means they have better games to buy such as COD4 and Assassin's Creed.
vulcanraven01 on 13 Nov '07
Nothing to do with the game being pants and an embarrassment to the console

Ha, you fanboys make me laugh, you really do.

*wonders why the dated PS2 sells more units than the PS3*

People should really stop with all the fanboy talk. When ever I see such childish comments it just gives me more incentive to ignore anything they post...
People need to deal with the fact that PS2 was top dog last gen and 360/Wii are fighting for that position this gen. PS3 is along way behind but when the releases start picking up next year im sure it will get closer.
Knocking a rival console isn't going to change the situation... Confused

Xbox 360 has already won this gen -- 2 years head start and the greatest games ever created -

Wii is an awful console with crap games

Hey you're right about the sixaxis being a better controller for a dragon game. I mean if you're going to accurately simulate a mythical beast, you should always make sure you use a tilt-sensing control pad. After all, it was the way dragons were controlled back in times of yore. Wink

Maybe Lair 2 will come with a motion-sensing saddle and reins!

That's hilarious. The 360 has already won? Nonsense. The battle is only just starting with the Wii and PS3 starting to release some titles!

What will 360 owners do when their console goes "Red lights of death" (RLOD) > 3 yrs? What will 360 owners do when their DVD drive starts making crunching noises (> 1 yr) and "makes discs unreadable" by scratching them? If only this were FUD (like the 40% PS3 failure rates touted last week), I'd be happy to admit it, but 3 of my friends are on their 2nd or 3rd 360 already and some of their friends are too. Okay, so for now they're under warranty and that's great for them (seriously, no sarcasm intended), but where does that leave them in 2009 / 2010?

Will 360 owners go out and buy the same console twice - and for some even a second copy of a game twice? Those are huge pocket lining sales for Microsoft indeed. No wonder they're raking it in.

PS3 owners know, their console and the games they purchase will last more than 2 or 3 years. Ignoring the Wii for a second (because clearly that will top the lot) and focusing on 360 vs PS3... This is Kasparov (PS3) vs Short (360) all over again.

Just my 2 rants worth... Wink

Indeed he did and yet plenty of people still managed to go out and buy a copy of the "delayed" game without the 'rated 15' sticker. Not me personally, but it was on shelves and available for purchase in some places. Just goes to show what "Sony" says and what "CVG" writes about aren't always completely true...

Edit - Oh and PS3 owners could always have bought the US version - if they were really *that* bothered about this title.

Judging by the reviews, i think people who have bought this game, wish it had been pulled to have no age rating on the disc, is it that bad?
