It looks like much-loved Sega fly-'em-up NiGHTS is coming to PS2 - and it's not a port of the new Wii game.
According to the latest issue of Famitsu magazine, a port of the critically acclaimed Saturn original NiGHTS into Dreams will be released on PS2 in Japan this February.
A sequel, NiGHTS Journey of Dreams, is currently on the way for Wii.
Because of the slight hindrance of not being able to read Japanese, we haven't got the slightest clue what the PS2 version of into Dreams is all about, although going by the mag screens it looks like it's at least had a visual touch up.
Will we be able to play it for hell on a DualShock, though?
Sega's UK outfit offered a no comment when we picked up the blower, but hopefully it'll have lots of lovely things to tell us soon.
Update: According to useful internet translators the PS2 version will be updated with polygon graphics and 16:9 modes. Mmmmm...
Best news in ages, but it will probably be part of the awesome Japanese-only "Ages" series. They are up to AGES 31: Virtua On. Man - there's a game that needs a PAL release <Kicks Armored Core in the ghoulies>
Holding on is quiet desperation is the Aussie way. I can't afford a PS3/Wii/360 so I hope a few more PS2 games can make an appearance over here!!!
Is there any chance that Nintendo can just buy Sega, so they can put the companies franchises to good use; where the hell is Skies of Arcadia 2 dammit!!!

Now there is something that is screaming to come to the wii/other next gen platforms.
Although I agree on the worry its going to be harder to control with the Dualshock. Fingers crossed its great though
well the original nights was on a analogue controller & that was fine?. hopefully this will come to the PSP so i can download....ermmm i mean GET it....

I know but the dualshock isnt as comfortable or as precise as the SS 3D pad

True the Saturn 3D controller has one the smoothest and most precise feels I have ever experienced.
What do you mean "the good one"?

Yes CVG what do you mean "the good one" *puts on knuckle dusters*
I want to see more of my fave Sega franchises! I know you've often seen me on this site asking for a new Fighting Vipers, Virtua Cop, JSRF and Clockwork Knight. Also what was done with Alex Kidd?

Very true, SS 3D Pad was so sweet, its why i love the 360 pad so much 4 me its pretty damn close. I remember playing the 1st Tomb Raider on the SS with that 3D pad & thinking it was the best thing since t**s. loved it.
Would be nice to see this on XBLA or PSN, and this development could well lead to that! I do worry that I hear the noise of shovels hitting the dirt, sega are digging up an old franchise to flog to death...

The original was s**t im afraid mate. Many JRPGs have been influenced by a film called laputa castle in the sky that one more than most. If you really liked it i recommend playing grandia on the ps1 or saturn. Although skies of arcadia had much promise it never got better than the first few levels.

Well not that many people will have played Nights in the first place. Plus I think a lot of publishers/devlopers do it, and often it's what the fans want.
WHAT? SEGA, you can go F#$* urselves! damn u! u make decent games on PS2 and s**tty games on wii?? what the hell? after the Sonic Franchise did somewhat better on the Wii (secret rings was better than STH.) man i'm not buying nights on wii unless its better than the PS2 version! not that i want lots of polygons but i want some decent game to buy not some Ps2 engine on it. i lost respect for SEGA if the PS2 version turns out better! even after sonic in brawl i thought sega would take nintendo more seriously... ah screw it got other games to play *rubs Nights off of the to buy List, adds Medal of honour heroes 2* there thats better

Well I enjoyed it, even though it's cheesy as hell. The thing with SEGA is the franchises they own have lots of promise, imagine a new Phantasy Star Online (for the Wii of course) with some actual online support. Would give WOW and FFXI some trouble, probably.
hey vectra, the guys over at IGN claims it has better controls than Metroid Prime 3! that is interesting to hear, plus its looking quite good oh and 32 player online! oh yes it sounds pretty good, i'll just make sure its long (story wise) and that the controls are good. sorry MFnick but Sega is p**sing me off by concentrating on the Ps2 version making it look better than the wii version. how can they expect ppl to buy stuff when they don't give a s**t? its very annoying, thank god Nintendo makes its own games! can u imagine if nintendo had to rely on 3rd party? that would be horrible, to be fair some 3rd party devs are doing good, SE, Capcom, Suda 51, they are actually taking the wii seriously, with the exception of SE, capcom and Suda always liked the GC, they did awesome games on it so i expect they do awesome games on the wii. apparently RE:UC is awesome! can't wait for that!! but sega is just shoving some trash on the wii, ghost squad looks ok, but house of the dead looks awful, then nights looks pretty lame (knowing the PS2 has the better version) i am disapointed with Sega, they better make up for this s**t.
