Tomb Raider: Anniversary finally on XBL

360 remake arrives in two ten quid episode packs, just in case you can't be arsed to walk to the shops
We've been wondering for a while where it'd gone to, but the Xbox 360 version of Tomb Raider Anniversary is finally up for download on Xbox Live Marketplace.

Owners of last year's Lara release Tomb Raider: Legend can download the remake in two episodes weighing in at 1.5GB each and 1200 Microsoft points - which is about ten quid in normal currency.

The boxed edition was released in the shops last month and it really is quite good. There's also a Wii version (with torch controls!) planned for release next month.

If you passed over PS2 and PC versions of Tomb Raider: Anniversary, and have no idea about the story and gameplay features awaiting you, then click off and read our review to get up to speed.

And for something a little more special, we've got this Xbox 360 and PS1 comparison video.

I wouldn't mind replaying this actually. It reminds me that there was a time when Tomb Raider was Triple A stuff.

Ahh... The old ones were always the best!

I read a while ago that you require a copy of Tomb Raider Legend in order to be able to play this, does anyone know if this is still true?

Wouldn't mind getting it to be honest, played it briefly and I like the idea that its going back to roots, that sense of isolation and exploration.

... so yes, you need it.

Hilarious.....

Anyway, you'd be better off buying the retail copy as it's only a few quid more expensive than the download.

why the hell is it only ppl who had Tombraider:Legend that this is open too? seems a bit wierd.
Or is it just that it costs less if you have owned the Tombraider:Legend game?

I hated Tombraider:Legend, i thought they had fixed tombraider for that game but they hadnt... Lara was still running about being like James Bond instead of being like Indiana Jones, luckily Tombraider:Anniversary is proper tombraider again.. you even get to RAID TOMBS!!!!!!!!!

Tombraider:anniversary is really good, its very similar in appearance to Tombraider:Legend but its miles better... absolutely MILES better, any1 who didnt like TR:Legend should still check out Anniversary.

I brought the retail version for Ł20 on game.co.uk. Very Happy

It’s gone back up to Ł25 now but I’d just wait until it gets cheaper again.

1.5gb each is alot of space on the hdd, specially when the orginal saturn game came one one cd some ten years ago, i would be interested in this, if i hadnt finished the saturn version ten years ago now, so its a pointless download and a pointless buying it in the shops.
The_Hun1 on 23 Nov '07
With all these quality games coming around at the moment just who gives a stuff about tosh like this?

Cool, so your Saturn let you play an xbox360 game 10 years before it was made did it? Smile (remember to read articles), its 1.5GB because its not the 10 year old original Tombraider....

The Tombraider:anniversary game is different from the original Tombraider game, the story and levels may be set in the same places, but the actual level design is very different and the controls and combat are much better.
Its been totally re-done in the graphic stlye of Tombraider:Legend... so its not pointless, anyone who enjoyed the original Tombraider will enjoy Anniversary.

Meh. I bought the retail version. I'm rather have the game on DVD than taking up unneccessary space on the hard drive. Besides, you don't need Legend if you buy the retail version.

No, they leave those kind of puerile comments to the Playstation owners. Wink

2400 points for the game is a bit stupid really, because those who havent got a credit card, then have to buy two 2100 points cards to cover the 2400 points price and they will cost you around Ł35-40....and also, you have to have tomb raider legends disc to play them and then you have to have 3 gig on your hard drive spare, easy for me and my 120gig hard drive, but not so easy for those who have the 20 gig(13 gig)hard drive

and when GAME are selling this for the 360 at Ł24.99....it would just be easier to buy the retail disc...no hard drive space needed, and no legends disc needed
