Warhawk expansion sooner than expected

Omega Dawn hitting PlayStation Network next month, with new vehicle and night-time maps
Sony has confirmed that the first Warhawk expansion will be arriving sooner than expected; it'll be up for download on the PlayStation Network next month.

Called Omega Dawn, the expansion includes five new maps (all set a night-time - lovely) which Sony says will be the largest battlegrounds you've seen so far.

There's also one new vehicle included, the KT-424 Combat Dropship, which can hold seven soldiers, a pilot and a vehicle. There's also a rather meaty cannon on the top of it, so you can already tell it's going to shake up existing maps and game modes quite significantly.

The new maps will support all game modes, says Sony, and you can use Omega Dawn's new Dropship toy on all existing maps. Unfortunately there's no word yet on pricing or a release date for the expansion, but we'll be sure to let you know. Maybe.

And if you haven't already checkout the review for the original game.

This might just pull people back on Warhawk from COD4... I've hardly touched warhawk for about 3 weeks but it is definitely a game I will go back to having fun on!

I love Warhawk but they still haven't sorted out my stats, even after all the updates. Cod4 rules supreme at the minute. The new expansion for Warhawk sounds cool and with the dropships, but without the stats it all seems pointless. Sad

Play a game on a SCEE ranked server and your stats will be fixed after that.

I'll try that, matey. If it works I will definately be looking forward to the new expansion. Thanks. Very Happy

That's what I thought, but I am still too high a ranking for my points! Confused

i agree with whats already been said, since cod4 i havent loaded up warhawk once. i love it, but when you can play cod4, are you really going to play another shooter? i will get the update and give it a go as it does sound good, but is it really going to peel me from cod4?...

It is a good game and all but its no COD4 or halo3 now is it

Quite correct; it's played in 3rd person perspective.

If you're playing all three you'll never get the most out of any of them. I've found it's better to stick with one online game rather than constantly moving onto the "next big thing". There was a good article in Edge last month about how increasing the number of online games arguably dilutes the whole experience.

Don't let the "Man" tell you what to play dude- free yourself from the shackles of commercialism. Find a game you like, stick with it and save some cash.
