Assassin's Creed PS3 patch is coming

Ubisoft "actively working on a game update" to fix crashing issues
Ubisoft is working to fix the glitch-ridden PS3 version of Assassin's Creed with a patch update to come soon.

A Ubisoft spokesperson said that the patch will remedy "freeze issues" which have plagued the game since its release.

"We can confirm that we are actively working on a game update. This update will help improve the stability of the game and will be released as soon as possible," the firm said.

Crashing during load screens is one of the main faults experienced by gamers, which was originally thought to be (although not confirmed) caused by Sony's 2.0 firmware update. The 2.01 update was expected to sort out these issues, among others, but clearly there's more work to be done.

"In the meantime thank you for your ongoing feedback and patience," Ubisoft added.

I did have the game freeze when using the 2.0 firmware, but since i installed 2.01 it hasn't froze once or shown any other glitch or problem, nor has it for any of my friends that did the same, maybe CVG should do a little fact finding before branding something bug ridden when clearly it isn't.

Doesnt the 360 sufer from this too? What are they doing about that?

Its Ubisoft who are saying there are problems still not just CVG.

Doesnt the 360 sufer from this too? What are they doing about that?

Finished the game on the 360 last night and didnt experience one issue throughout the whole time playing, apart from the way some of character would suddenly start to float out of nowhere but i dont think thats the 360's fault.

Really good game if a little repetitive but what is it with all these faults and niggles with the PS3 games?

Not having a dig just genuinley interested to find out why they keep happening

I'm sure glad that when I chuck a game in my PC it just works Wink

Shocked I never know if any of my PC games will work, seems even if I can get them to install, and then run, the next windows or DX update will knacker them. Much safer to play games on a console, even a PS3. Wink

I think most people know by now that the Ps3 development is a lot tougher than 360 so it takes a skilled dev to bring a tasty meal to the table, i.e. Infinity ward with the superb COD4. Nevertheless, I do believe that the Ps3 version of Assassins creed has recieved better reviews than the 360 game in some quarters. I think the Ps3 can be excused of teething troubles, but the 360 shouldn't. Not to have a dig or anything. Wink

So far it's only froze once for me on my brother's 360, but luckily enough it was pretty much literally after the game had saved (albeit a cutscene) so all was good Wink

So, you know the PS3 is harder to develop for but you the games are better because of these issues or is it because of the Cell? You think the PS3 should be excused, are you having a giraffe? If a product is not ready it should not be sold. Simple.

Everybody on this thread should read that bit highlighted. It's ridiculous that even with games crashing I'm still seeing fanboy rival console bashing. A crashing game on console has always been inexcusable. If a SNES or MD game kept crashing then surely that game would have been left on the shelves.

Will you guys speak with your wallets for once and not buy these damn buggy releases! I cannot do it on my own Mad

Erm, the 360? Perfect product? RROD? Try and be fair in your views because this is what starts stupid fanboy arguments. Confused

I agree I am sick of products been released that dont function as intended or have issues that need sorting at a later date with patches ect.

If these companies had done that we would have a PS3 with no games and a pile of 360 games with no console LaughingLaughing

Fair do's on that one. Wink Although the extended warranty does help, cant see Sony following suit with compensation for lost game time, although in America I expect to see lawsuits flying rather soon.

Most importantly, you don't have to buy the games that are unfinished. That is why I have decided to skip Assassins creed and Mass effect to spend my prcious time on COD4 and Mario Galaxy. Fun, fun, fun till daddy took the t-bird away.

I don't put up with bugs. Bought a PC game once and took it back when a character needed to progress got stuck on some invisible scenery. It was patched eventually but by then I had moved on. Cool

we need to stop buying games that need to be patched. Its letting the dev's think its ok to release a game to reach a deadline in a unfinished state with promises of patches to fix them.

I still remeber the good old days when you bought a game for a console and it worked, all this updating software was for PCs. and you could leave your front door unlocked and everyone knew their neighbours.

If I want to fart around with drivers and patches I'll buy it for my PC TVM.

It seems as though nobody tests these games anymore. Or nobody listens to the testers...It has always been the same for PC games, but at least they are cheaper and get patched more regularly. Seabass promised a patch last week for PRo Evo 2008 on the ps3 but I haven't seen anything of it.

Anyway, can we have some all round positive news please CVG. Like "Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony make new console together called 'The Dream'". "All fanboys get together for a world record breaking can-can!"

Peace. Laughing

I've had one error occur on the 360 version - I think it was in Acre, where I came towards to one area where the frame rate probably dropped to around 22 or something, but then I turned away and it was fine, but turning back to head in the slowdown direction the game got locked at that speed for wherever I went so I had to quit out.

The problem with the 360 though its hard to tell whether it's a game fault or the useless hardware that runs the game - my 360 is dying slowly as well.
deadmartyr on 26 Nov '07
I had the problem with Altair just getting frozen mid run. Both with the 2.0 and 2.01 updates. Admittedly the problem wasn't quite so rampant with the 2.01 update (only happened once) but it's obviously still an issue.

As for buying games with errors. Well it’s next to impossible to have a completely error free piece of code. With the complexity of games now, it’s so easy for bugs to creep up unsuspectingly, and it’s not until several hundred thousand copies make it into the hands of people that the full extent of the problem is finally noticed. Admittedly some bugs should never make it through into the release code, like this one for instance, but at least they can be fixed (assuming the fix itself doesn't create another bug Very Happy )

Still not acceptable! It would have worse in the 16 bit days since saving your game wasn't a common thing. A lot of people would have been rampant if console games crashed then.

If I was trying to play a game and it crashed twice, it's straight back to the store for that title and I'll loudly (if politeness fails) demand a refund or exhange for another title.

If it can be fixed by a software patch then it's the fault of the game. It probably just had insufficient testing. A problem with hardware will randomly effect every game (locking up completely, random reboots etc). At least they've promised a patch, but this new trend of patching console games for "issues" is a bit disturbing. It suggests they're skimping on testing now that it's possible. A few years ago, a serious bug would have killed a title, now it's just a patch away.
