It could well turn out that Tomb Raider Underworld is the name Eidos will slap on Lara Croft's next adventure.
It's being reported that the publisher has filed for trademark of the phrase 'Tomb Raider Underworld' with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, you see.
'Underworld' has led to speculation that the new Tomb Raider game may find Croft mixing it up with seedy criminal elements, but it could of course just be a reference to the core of the sequel involving underground antics.
Whatever, we'll have to wait and see...
Tomb Raider took severe nose dive with Angel of Darkness, but the series has seen a return to form since being placed in the safe hands of Crystal Dynamics. Both Tomb Raider Legend and Tomb Raider Anniversary have been very well received.
Please let this turn out to be a board game or something non video game based, Angel o Darkness was atrocious. Tomb Raider should stick with raiding tombs, not killing bad guys and battling demons.
Nooo, Lara's last two games have been great getting her back on form from the atrocious AoD.
I agree though, i don't want any game not based around Tombs.
I agree but they should use Anniversary as a template rather than Legend. Firstly Lara should be alone when raiding these tombs, not in contact with a back-up team by radio. There wasn't much of a sense of scale about Legend either.
But at least these guys seem to understand what Tomb Raider fans want.

Yup - the essence was resurrected in the last 2 titles.
I didn't mind her being in contact with a team... I'd prefer a mix, with her equipment and contact ebing limited... the deeper you get into a tomb, the less contact you have until it's total radio silence.
I'd also like to see a "bare bones" element, where she has to squeeze through small gaps, leaving equipment behind, giving it a greater sense of survival.
