It's time for more Street Fighter IV action today as two new screenshots appear online in the wake of previous recent coverage.
We're loving the art direction for the new Street Fighter game.
"The characters and environments are rendered in stylized 3D computer graphics (CG), while the game is played in the classic Street Fighter 2D perspective with additional 3D camera flourishes", Capcom says.
In addition to the two new screenshots, which have come from blog Blogeek.com.br, new details suggest that Street Fighter IV features online play and that Capcom plans to introduce two new female characters.
To date, the company has confirmed the presence of Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li and Dhalsim in the sequel.
But I'd really like to see it in motion before getting too hyped. If they get it right, then smooth flowing gameplay along with those looks, could be an amazing gaming experience!
I'm still hoping for lots of nice, Okami-style effects thrown all over it. They've got the technology to produce the most beautiful looking hand-drawn fighter with the perfect 2D fighting system to back it up. I still feel 3D is a bad/sell-out/easy move.
Its looking good. hope it breaths new life into the series. Not sure about the backgrounds tho. I'm a believer if your going to do something do it properly and they (well it) don't look all that special. early days tho.
Still its about the two fighters and how they flow. Till its in motion as mentioned I'll reserve the excitement.
Although I love that trailers style, I still think this looks frantastic & almost as good. Were you really expecting in game to look like that trailer though?
To get the game to actually look exactly like the trailer, gameplay wise, it would have to be 3D. Just look at how the ink brushes were working and the effects. For the real version, you might get some nice ink-brush effects when you hit an opponent, or when you go into a combo attack... before and during. Different colour ink effects for different styles, etc.
Hmmmmmm not too sure. like people have said I am sure it will look better in motion but just by the three pics we have seen i am not 100% sold. As long as it is more like SF2 than SFEX it will be amazing. Don't let us down Capcom a lot of people are counting on you to pull this off.
This works for me! As long as there is something new and not just a lick of paint then I am sure this will be awesome. Capcom realy are a power house for this generation. With so many AAA titles under there belt and the excellent looking Devil may cry 4 just around the corner, I am sure this new Street fighter will become another instant classic.
You could always count on Capcom and Konami to deliver great games, but while Capcom goes from strength to strength, Konami's quality has seem to fade year on year. Let's hope MGS4 turns the tide.
This looks pretty bad...it reminds me of the early CD days, when PC/Mega CD games used sprites with bold outlines obviously standing out from the backgrounds...Capcom stick to proper 3D and save trying to keep the nostigia look....it doesn't work.
Hmmm, mixed feelings about these shots. Looks a little Street Fighter Ex to me. I'm sure the end product wont be though. Also, this could just be concept art (we have been lied to before!!!) and not actual screenshots directly from the game.
I'm not worried. With Capcom on a high at the moment and this being one of their most valuable franchises, I don't think it can fail.
I must say i hate the new screens, frankly they look ugly and have lost the charm that they had in 2D plus 3D games never stand up well to time, it may be cutting edge, if that, when it's released but you can't look back at it in a few years time, like you can at SF3 and still be amazed by the lush graphics, it will look old and dated like every other 3D game before it. Take SF:EX as a prime example, i would say SF Alpha looks way better even though its older cus 2D just ages better. Really dissapointed

Agreed, this looks bad. It's cartoony in the wrong way, too colourful to be as good as the Street Fighter anime, and not stylish enough to be anything like Viewtiful Joe or Killer 7.
I think this game will tank now (which is a shame), unless the fighting mechanics are as slick as the 2D originals, and somehow, I'm doubtful that'll be the case. After all, going 3D killed the KoF series (granted SNK were screwed anyway), and we've already had a *3D* Street Fighter game that played like the 2D entries and it sucked ass.
The backgrounds here look like ass and the character models look lame (Ken looks like a midget from those screens). I'd sorta expected something like this, but I figured they'd go the Naruto route. Don't get me wrong, I'm still hopeful the game will be badass, but I cannot say I'm impressed, or excited yet, with this incarnation at the moment Capcom.
