3DR's George Broussard has stressed that is a teaser trailer: "It's not a full blown trailer like the 2001 trailer (but something like that is coming). I tried to be clear about that in the message board post, so just bear in mind that it's a teaser".
Does that mean we're not actually going to get in-game footage? We hope not. A screenshot from the trailer is pictured.
For anyone who has no idea what Duke Nukem Forever is, it's a once-upon-a-time hotly anticipated sequel FPS that we've been waiting for for about 10 years. More at our game homepage.
Somethings going to happen and the trailer won't show today.... This game is probably gettng more attention over the past 10 years for not coming out that it would have if it had launched. 3D Realms may be on to someting when it comes down to keeping a franchise popular without doing much work on it.
Seriously, every has high hopes for this game since it's been so long and like everyone else I don't think that it's going to live up to the hype buy hopefully it's still at least a good game.
That screenshot doesn't look pre-rendered to me, probably an in-game shot, although I hate to say it looks a bit dated, although not too bad not up to the stanards as Crysis, but I guess it depends on the art style they chose. I don't reall care about the hype any more, as long as it's as slap stick as DN3D I'll be happy.
You know what, I dont care, I'm excited as f**k, baring in mind this game has been in development since i was 11/12 and I'm now 21, this is one of those things I've been waiting for throughout my teenage life. If this comes out, along with a REAL Monkey Island Sequel and Shenmue 3, then all would be good in the gaming world!
I don't want to jump the gun here, but didn't Broussard always say that they wouldn't announce anything until they had something to announce ?
Does this mean that DNF could be closer than expected....?
It's like I've said on here before, I'm looking forward to this so much that I'd probably buy it even if it got universally bad reviews. But I'm a nostalgic old fart like that
I think this teaser trailer announcement shocked just about everyone. Seriously jokes aside on the game though, there is no way Duke Nukem Forever would ever be canceled after what now 10+ years in development so far. What would be the point? It would of been all a waste of time.
My guess is the game will arrive sometime 2008 and then there will be work on inevitable XBOX 360 and Playstation 3 ports. I mean if they have worked on a game this long I am sure they will want to make the most profit on this game as possible. I hope for a Playstation 3 version eventually anyway.
6pm (UK Time) the trailer should be online so I look foward to this, I first played Duke Nukem 3D when I was about 12 good times
I will never forget coming second in a duke nukem contest at school, it was before i had a pc. All i had was my little amiga 500! Having said that i prefered quake multiplayer.
Until the game is installed on my hard drive and I'm playing it, I refuse to anticipate this in any capacity.
Indeed.
Duke Nukem Forever eh? They f**king named that spot on didnt they.... we've been waiting forever and i bet this will end up as another over hyped mediocre game.
Duke's the dog's!!! So if they create an old skool 3D shooter in the vein of Serious Sam but with pretty visuals and mad gameplay then count me in.
Absolutely with you there mate - screw all this puzzle malarky that most shooters try to include these days, just have an out and out bloodbath from start to finish!
DN3D was like a parody of itself, that's how awesome it was. Pick up that red key from over there <-- and take it to that big red door over there -->. Now THAT's what I call a proper FPS puzzle
The problem they're going to have is that everyone loved the humour back then, so they can't simply lift it and put it into a new game and expect the same results - it just wouldn't be funny. And DN without funny moments would just suck.
The DN3D backstory? "Those alien bastards are gonna pay for shootin' up my ride". Sorted
With THIS much hype? There's no WAY it's going to live up to your expectations. Look at Assassin's Creed or Crysis - we said they were overhyped from the start. My prediction is that it will be mediocre, but everyone'll still buy it because they've been waiting so long now.

creed and crysis were hyped by the developers whereas everything to do with dnf has been fan hype, 3drealms have not invested any amount of money into a hype machine at all other than a job advert a few years back and 2 quick trailers.
dnf just doesn't compare to any other pc fps game at all since it has a few unique assets
1) It has Duke Nukem 2) YOU should ALWAYS bet on Duke 3) Pig Cops (I mean, how is that not awesome on its own?) 4) LOL jokes all round that people who have played the previous Duke games will love and look forward to.
I also don't know wtf people are on about the voice in the teaser, it sounds no different to his normal voice, I know this because I just finished playing Duke Nukem Manhattan Project.
Whether or not it's the devs doing the hype, you have to admit there's a mountain of hype surrounding this game. My point was that people are expecting the earth, and I'd be exceedingly surprised if it delivers.

Which other Duke game has not delivered ?
Like I said, you can always bet on Duke !
George promised us an epic SP Duke game and to keep that promise it's taken 10 years. one would imagine it is going to be something special indeed.
Duke was the first FPS I played back when I was 9 or 10...my parents did a great job raising me lol.
I can't wait for this game. I've been waiting for so long...I remember first reading about it in PC Active back in 97 or 98, together with a tiny little thumbnail screenshot. When it comes I WILL buy it and I'll play it to death and I'll love every second, no matter what the critics may say.
