One minute we know very little about Ubisoft's 360 version of first-person slasher Dark Messiah, the next we can actually play the thing on Xbox Live.
Yep, the single and multiplayer demo of Dark Messiah: Elements, which we're really hoping has been given a decent transfer to console, is now up for sampling on Xbox Live Marketplace.
The 360 version has a new lock-on feature and tweaked level design and game statistics. There's also three previously unreleased levels with new objectives, gameplay, and rewards.
We've not idea how big it is (because we're too busy messing around with toy helicopters to download it) but let us know if its any good in the comments below, would you please?
I very much enjoyed it on PC also. I have finished it no less than three times already though so I don't know if I'd be buying it again. I'll probably at least give the demo a shot to see how it plays on 360.
I've played the game through a couple of times on PC, and loved it. Been deliberately holding off playing it again so that I can pick up the 360 version Will be downloading this as soon as I get home!
Awesome stuff, the PC version. Pleasepleaseplease guys who have Xbox 360's PLEASE post here how it is. I was in the PC multiplayer beta and I would really like to know how Ubi themselves made the MP part, because Kuju REALLY messed it up. I would appreciate any information about it
Maybe if DM: Elements is successful enough, they'll re-port it into the PC as well?
I would say it's a good demo. Some problems being that my character went through the floor as he was finishing off the enemies. It had a few jumps in frame rate and sensitivity needs tweaking a bit I reckon. I haven't played online yet but I shall try it soon. I reckon I shall get it as I loved the pc version but mine refused to load after a certain point.
Played the demo for a while now. going to be a good game, graphics not amazing but ok, plenty variation in gameplay, combat works well (similar to Oblivion - yet feels faster), online features (including co-op) shoud add to what looks like an essential purchase for fans of the genre (like me).
Although the quest is the same as in the PC demo and first level of the full game (get the crystal) it plays very differently and you start outside the temple. In fact the pc level is way more dark and atmospheric. In my opinion the graphics are a little disappointing.
You are also asked to choose a character class (soldier or mage in the demo I think) when you start and when you level up you get a set skill each level - rather than choosing to level up the way you want to.
Oh, and your mentor is a lot more obviously evil as he is describing things. Stuff to collect for acheivements as well.
I was really looking forward to this... but its a let down, its really slow and boring, the graphics are aged, and the AI is soooo dull, they just stand there and let you hit them
oh and your masters voice after 10 minutes will make you go crazy!
I reinstalled the pc one though and i have to say the computer effort is the better of the 2 versions(the keyboard and mouse combo control is a joy to use compared to a pad).
I'll keep an eye out for the 360 one though, it should be pretty good.
Compared to its PC daddy the demo on the 360 is quite poor. Someone's already mentioned sensitivity - they're really going to have to sort that out to make it playable for long periods. There was a bit where I couldn't find a lever and the Master's voice kept repeating "pull the lever, pull the lever" like some demented and annoying parrot. Graphics are pretty awful considering what we know the 360 can do and you're right, the AI stinks. I managed to get through the whole demo without taking a hit, the enemies just stand there and let you pummel them. hopefully the completed game will fix these because it seems to have potential - loved DM on the PC and I'd love to be able to love it on the 360 too.
