Deus Ex creator Warren Spector's so keen to get his hands on Deus Ex 3 he wants Eidos to surreptitiously slip him pre-release versions.
"I hope they do it right and send me beta versions without telling anybody, and I won't tell anybody at Disney", Spector has told Edge magazine.
Now at Junction Point Studios, which is owned by Disney, Spector's previously said he's sure Eidos will do a great job with Deus Ex 3. However in the Edge interview he voiced concerns and called the IP a "very delicate thing".
"...I'm definitely concerned about whether the people who've never worked on it are gonna get it," he said.
But, he added, "I'm very encouraged by the fact that a lot of the guys very highly placed inside Eidos did talk to me and wanted me to participate".
Obviously I can't participate because I'm at Disney, Spector continued, "but I've spoken to people who seem to really care".
He also admits that it's hard letting go of his baby. "...JC and Paul, and Alex Jacobson and Tracer Tong - oh God, I love those guys".
It'll be some time before we see Deus Ex 3. Eidos Montreal, where the game is in development, has said the team wants to have a minimum of 24 months to complete the project.
All our previous coverage of the sequel can be found on our Deus Ex 3 homepage.
An in-depth feature on Warren Spector and his involvement with Disney appears in the latest issue of Edge Magazine, #185, out now.
I don't think doing 'a good job' will be good enough. The original is held in such high regard, and rightly so, that they'll have to make something close to gaming perfection - and even if they manage it, it'll still get slated by some. Good luck Eidos, you'll need it.
