Microsoft's chief blogger Major Nelson has confirmed that there will be no new releases on Xbox Live Arcade this week, not even a rubbish puzzle game with achievements you'll never play. Damn.
It had been reported that awesome shooter Rez HD and Ubisoft's less exciting Chessmaster Live would take this week's slot, though that's obviously turned out to be a load of rubbish. Maybe next week, eh?
Instead Xbox 360 owners are left to make do with Microsoft's offer of a free copy of Undertow, in compensation for the constant uptime issues with Xbox Live over Christmas. The deal's good until Sunday, so get your skates on.
In case you missed it, the company also rolled out its Xbox Live Arcade Awards yesterday, where gamers are invited to vote for their favourite download games (on Xbox 360, that is) so that Microsoft can crown them with some nice silverware. Get voting!
I cant believe this crap piece of digital information is under so much spotlight.
Also can the people who didnt have XBL or 360's during the downtime still DL it free? If so your not really repaying us that were affected are you MS you t**ts?! Its just setting up a freebie like you did with Carcosonne (or whatever its called). I bet you were planning to release this for free anyway so its no extra hassle for you is it? Also it wouldnt be free just for a set time - it would be until the people you are supposedly compensating downloaded it.
I'd much preferred like StreetFighter 2 for free instead of this. I played the demo of this and found the control a little clumsy in places. Still, it's free so what can you say?
@mfnick Calm down man Network issues are something you agree to when you sign up for any online service - it's part of the EULA. Technically they don't legally have to compensate you at all. Carcassonne is actually a surprisingly good little puzzle game. And while this one might not break any records, free is free.
And they have to make it limited time, because otherwise new XBL signups could get it, despite never having gone through the recent problems.
You're lucky, they could have just given you a new 360 branded wallpaper instead of a game.
I would have prefered that Honestly it may be free but im never going to play it so whats point. Its a turd in a sea of quality games. I hardly have time to play the great games so this piece of crap will never get touched. Doubt i'll even bother dl'ing it.

On a side note, my 360 is back and working just waiting for my net now which I've subscribed to. I also managed to get myself a PS3. I wrote about it in general gaming
