DMC 4 demo out tomorrow on XBL, PSN next week

Unless you have a US PSN account. Then you can have it tomorrow, too
It seems hints of the DMC4 demo's launch left on the official site mislead us - you'll be playing the game tomorrow, Capcom has confirmed, not next week.

"The Devil May Cry 4 demo you've heard about will be up on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network [in the US] this Thursday, January 24, 2008," says Capcom, before going on to reveal that the giant fire beast thing we spoke of in this preview (and pictured below), will be in the demo.

Update: Capcom UK has told CVG that while the demo will also go live tomorrow on the European Xbox Live Marketplace, the Euro PSN Store won't get it until January 31. No biggie though - just use that US account you should have created by now. Update ends

Want to know what to expect? Capcom teases: "The demo introduces gamers to the gothic-inspired supernatural world of Devil May Cry 4, new protagonist Nero and the awesome power of his Devil Bringer. The demo consists of a sampling of sections from the full game, chosen to showcase Devil May Cry 4's varied locales and allows gamers to familiarize themselves with Nero's unique abilities.

"Players will receive instruction on the various new actions that the Devil Bringer bestows, such as the ability to slam creatures to the ground, cover great distances in a single bound or even grab enemies while on the ground or in the air and pull them towards Nero to continue the attack combo.

"The Exceed system allows Nero to "rev up" his sword as if it were a motorbike throttle and unleash devastating attacks. Players will need to master all these techniques before the end of demo showdown with the mighty Berial."

Tomorrow's the day.

f**kin cannot wait. been gettin myself ready by playin dmc3. gonna download both versions to see if there's any difference cause i'd rather get it for the 360 just for the achievements. i know, i'm a gamerscore whore. Wink

Hmmm, make or break time for DMC for me then.
DAEDALUS79 on 23 Jan '08
Well, according to Gamer tv, the game is really easily beaten and is reminiscent of Dynasty Warriors, 99 Nights etc. Will be getting it anyway as i quite like that kind of mindless hack and slash gameplay every now and again. Sometimes it's good not having to use the old grey matter.

Good thing i got me one of them US accounts. Wink

ummmm, im not sold on this game, i liked the 1st one, but the second one was sh1t & it seem from some of the reviews i read this one isnt that fantastic. But im glad to see a demo, this will be one to get later in the year when i can pick up a cheap traded copy.
hollywood111 on 23 Jan '08
i've got a US account so i get the demo but why the hell can they put the demo on the US PSN; US Xbox Live and Europe Xbox Live but not the Europe PSN?

Is there some problem with putting it on the europe PSN - there's clearly some sort of issue.
jimmygoogle on 23 Jan '08
Its pretty bad really. DMC has been a ps exclusive for a long time, but now its been delayed on its original platform in favour of the main competitor. Thats pretty embarrassing for sony although its seems to be common practice these days.
DAEDALUS79 on 23 Jan '08
Really loved the first too but haven't been into it much since then. Will try the demo (US PSN) but unless it amazes I think it's one to rent.
chrisno21 on 23 Jan '08
I'm totally on the fence about DMC4 so the demo is very welcome. It will be my deciding factor so I hope for their sake it's a good demo. Smile

Cant wait to play this. Can also find out if the 360 pad works well with it or grudgingly have to pay the £10 extra for PS3 version
mfnick on 23 Jan '08
dam sort it out sony.. any idea how i get past the address bit on the us accoumt
carter1983 on 23 Jan '08
Lol, sods law. I spent all of this morning trying to sort out a japanese account, as I heard it was only coming to the Japan store tomorrow, and now I find out that it's going to be on the US store as well.

Lmao, I already had a US account. Ah well, this should be a pretty rad demo. Wink

Just hope that Capcom haven't bottomd it up by introducing a new protagonist like DMC2, although that wasn't DMC2's only problem! If it's like the 1st and 3rd then it'll be sweet! Very Happy

Already got this beast pre-ordered for 360 but at least now I can get to grips with the control's before I start with the real thing. Cool

honestly i wouldn't even entertain the idea of listening to Gamer tv. half the times all they're facts are wrong. the only reason for watching it, if you've managed to surfaced from the night before's hangover that early, is to see the games in motion. the reviews and news sections are terribly inaccurate. i remember them saying a demo of littlebigplanet was available for download at time of broadcast but no-one else had even mentioned a demo being anywhere near ready. plus the presenter's sound like they don't have a clue what they're talking about Rolling Eyes
plus they probably weren't playing it on Dante must die mode or whatever its been changed to. thats the only way the game gets difficult. Exclamation

Are 360 games really only £25??? If so then i dont know how people can complain about game prices.
(i doubt they are only £25 mind, as on play.com theyre always £35, the same as ps3 game prices)

the 360 special edition is 30 pound on play.com,40 for the standard ps3 version.

scince when was dmc a mindless hack and slash???

does anyone realise the dexterity required to dodge and parry attacks just to stay alive for another 8 seconds??

this is an action game epic, with a style that only suits videogames, I look forward playing it tomorow! Cool
madrandall on 23 Jan '08
Kinda sucks the euro psn gets left out of loop again. But suppose it don't matter that much, since like cvg says, just get it from the us psn.

Yeah but remember there's at least £12.50's worth of extra quality in the PS3 version, making it well worth the extra expense! Laughing

Played the demo this morning....LOT OF FUN!!! Graphics are solid, though could be better. (Thank you Gears of War for SPOILING us with graphical detail!) Control is on point and overall gameplay of the DEMO is a LOT of fun, as just stated. =) Challenge is there but not overbearing, so far.

Not as big of a demo as I expected. Around 615 MB. There are 2 game modes. One is a 10 Minute massacre and the other is your standard "tutorial"-ish style mode.

FYI: Berial is AWESOME!!! Enjoy the "Lift & Punch across the screen move" you do on him. It's quite fun to watch. =)
DJEnhancr on 24 Jan '08
are u sure u played the demo?
because im on my us account and i cant find it Sad
Van_Ridley on 24 Jan '08
Positive I played it. =) I live in the New York City area and I saw it first thing in the morning before I went to work.

Hopefully it worked for you. Very Happy
