God of War III won't be released on PlayStation 3 for at least another two years. A reliable Sony source has told us that we shouldn't expect to see Kratos blowing his fuse until around Christmas 2009 at the earliest, scotching rumours of a winter 2008 release. That really gets our goat!
The existence of the game was only recently revealed when it was confirmed that God of War II's creative director, Corey Barlog, had left Sony. A Sony spokesperson says that the game is in production.
But following the unintentional announcement of the game, reports suggested that we'd see it in Q4 2008, putting it squarely in next Christmas's window. Barlog also reckoned God of War III would be playable in 1080p and would feature Sixaxis functionality, including rumble support. Too bad we won't see it for a looooong time.

Speaking of rumble support, when is the Dual Shock 3 being released in this country? I have had an imported one since it came out and a few of my UK games support rumble but I can't think of when it is being released in this country? Any ideas?

You never know - it could be good for rolling about: I found the right analog stick for that function was a bit iffy. Then again, I've yet to use Sixaxis (or play any game on the PS3) so I don't know what it's been like so far.

Its truly horrible. It completely takes you out of any immersion. Its unpredicatble, too sensative, feels unnatural & not at all responsive.
Please let us have the option of using the anologue stick devs!

Or how about Infamous, SOCOM: Confrontation, Killzone 2, HAZE, Gran Turismo 5, flOwer and Tekken 6 are just a few of some of the exclusives the PS3 has this year.

If the rumors are true and Gears of War 2 is released this fall for 360 then once again that will be the console to dominate. The games you mentioned won't make as big as an impact as God of War 3 could have. LBP is a great creative game but is no where near a system seller. SOCOM is a bore and only does well in the US where they get a boner over shotting people. Killzone 2 is a sequel to a crap/average FPS. HAZE is yet another FPS that will get lost in the crowd. Gran Turismo 5 will sell well but the franchaise has bceome stale. Tekken 6 will be out done by Soul Calibur 4 and maybe even the new Street Fighter. The other games you mentioned I haven;t even heard of so that says enough.
Don't get me wrong, im a PS3 owner looking forward to actually playing my PS3 on a regular basis. Everyone was touting 2008 as Sony's year but that's far from the truth. If anything it just seems like the real bedding in period now that the format has some stability. It seems we won't see what PS3 can do until 2009 with God of War 3, FF13 etc...
I guess what im saying is that by the time PS3 gets some serious momentum, this gen will almost be over. We've most likley only got another 3 years left...
man this sucks. God of War has become one of the industry's premier franchises. hopefully this is just a rumor that will turn out false. two years just seems way to long to wait...unless Santa Monica finds a way to wow everyone beyond imagining.
of course the wait 'sucks.' But great computer games take time to make.
there is always some great game that you want that will take ages to make. The trick is to forget about it and concentrate on what's coming in the near future, eg 2008.
(although I still dream of Elite IV & Elite Online...)

Anyone who thought that GOW3 or Final Fantasy 13 were gonna be out this year is a s****er and needs to get their head out of their ass. It's less than a year since we got the last installments and with both them, RE5 and more than likely we'll probably have the next masterpiece from team ICO. The next 2 years is looking like gaming nirvana for PS3.

I totally agree with you. Yeh its along wait but they wanna make this game amazing so thats what there gonna do. Why is everyone making a fuss anyway there are loads of exclusives for the ps3 this year, one of them being the most graphically superior games ive ever seen "Killzone 2".

And anyone who says 2008 isnt going to be a great year for ps3 is being ridiculously fanboyish, or at least being very ignorant. Gears of War wont solely make Xbox 360 the best console of 2008 either, because no console relies on one game only, if it did it would be a pretty s**t console. And is Gears of War 2 really coming out this year? Unless they started making it at least half a year ago then it wont be finished till late 2008, early 2009 and if they've only recently started working on it then expect 2009 or else it'll be rushed and s**t.
@NG_21: I just couldn't ignore your misinformation. Gears or War was released for 360 in 2006, so they could have 2 years to develop the sequel and release at the end of 2008.
I think no-one is saying the Playstation 3 won't have great games this year, but I doubt it will have the BEST games. Resident Evil 5 seems like it'll be great but it will be for 360 too. A team ICO game could change my mind as well, for the rest the titles that got mentioned in defense of the PS3 will probably suck in comparison with the multi-format titles and sound like desparation.
WipeOut HD looks awesome though, if God of War 3 would be released next to that I would be tempted to buy a PS3.

I think the point people are trying to make is that PS3 owners are trying to make out their 2008 line-up is better than it actually is. What they should be doing is comparing it to other consoles, not based on what they had last year, which it seems is what they are doing. Im also sorry to say this, but anyone that even dares to mention Killzone 2 deserves to do this > I mean come on people. The original was touted as Sony's answer to Halo and the game ended up being utter s**te. I doubt the sequel would suddenly be amazing and what's even worse is that the focus seems to be on the graphics rather than the gameplay. Don't even get me on the CGI trailer which they were saying was real until they were busted and made to look like fools. Anyway, back on topic, what im getting at is that 2008 won't be PS3's year like many fans have been shouting about. It will however be the year where they become serious contenders. For me Sony have been slow starters this gen and I can only see them really peaking in 2009/2010, but then we'll be coming to the end of this gen then...
I don't even understand what Sony are doing anymore. They bring out PS3, they pull back 20G Then introduce 80G and remove 60G. And now they remove 80G without a good reason and leave us with a stupid explanation as 'rumour and speculation'. What does that even mean? That doesn't say 'yes' or 'no' I'm getting anooyed.
