In one of his more honest interviews, movie director Ube Boll has hit out against the internet and gamers who bash his work.
In an interview broadcast on Red Eye with Greg Gutfeld by Fox News, Boll was asked how he dealt with gamers who complain about his movies.
He replied: "A lot of video games have no story. I did the movie House of the Dead and got bashed and I said, what were you expecting, Schindler's List? I showed zombies chasing people and this is basically what the movie delivers.
"I don't know what they were expecting if you make a movie based on an ego shooter where you kill ninety minutes of people non-stop."
Boll also shot down internet critics, saying: "They don't have their own life and they're still sitting at Mommy's table every lunch".

Well, here's something for you Boll: games are actually played as opposed to being just watched. Sure, its nice to have a story too but its all about how a game plays. I don't play Mario Galaxy cos of the story. Get a clue dude..

The man's a tart. He uses the banality of the material that he chooses to hide his lack of talent.
If he's got balls, he should choose a decent story and see what he can make of that. It's easy to blame the material when you choose "Bloodrayne" but not so simple when you choose "The Colour Purple".
If he complains about people not liking his game to movie tie-ins then he should just stop making them altogether, I mean alone in the dark was just sheer cack. And dont even dare say the source material wasn't right. It's scripting and casting that can make or break a movie. If he used a book for a movie and it was crap (which it would be if he made it) would he blame that for not having enough storyline!
Why doesn't he make films that aren't based on computer games then ?

He was clearly so disappointed with making films based on games that he had to prove to himself it really wasn't working by doing just that over and over again. What a toolbag

Total bullcrap. Genre films like Alien (scifi horror) or Jaws have been wowing people for years. Action films like Die Hard and the Terminator will always remain classics. Sure, not everyone will like them, but there's no single movie everyone likes. Someone needs to make this man realize that his track record should show that he makes TERRIBLE MOVIES. NONE of them have been well received by anyone. The only reason they even pull in any money in the box office is because people go to see how bad the latest Uwe Boll movie will be. Either that or they've just never heard of him and say 'hey that movie poster looks cool, let's check it out'.

George Romero manages to make great movies out of the plot; 'zombies get shot a bit then eventually eat everyone' so why can't Boll (answer; he's rubbish).
As I recall, Boll actually extracted what little storyline there was from House of the Dead and made a film that was practically unrecognisable next to the game - so he's not exactly being bound by plot restraints.
...and I've seen plenty of films that are little more than 90mins of gunplay that are a hell of a lot more entertaining than anything Boll has shat out.

The interviewer actually asks him why he keeps making videogame movies. His answer is, "money!"
Does he ask why he seems to make nothing but video game movies? As I would imagine it is becuase he never gets offered anything else.
Thing is as it has been pointed out there are plenty of zombie films with a fairly non exsistant story line there were streets ahead of what he produced.
When the man makes a film be it based on a game or otherwise that isn't gash maybe he will be in a better position to blame the source material.

Actually, he most certainly isn't. He's actually a decent bloke; weird, but most certainly a decent bloke.
I think he half likes, loathes all the media attention and doesn't know how to deal with it.
I interviewed him a few months ago and he saw the draft and wanted to change the interview from looking at him in a positive light, to something far darker and dirtier.
Which is a bit bizarre.
But he's still a decent - and quite clever - bloke.

He has a valid point. Games rarely do have a story and when they do they are same old run of the mill "planet invaded by this or that" stories. That said, why the hell did he make House of the Dead anyway? What did he think he could do with it? Well, gotta go Moms got lunch ready!
Ok, House of the Dead was pap, but it's funny. Not on purpose though. Boll has continued to churn out loss making rubbish ever since due to his projects being funded by German corporates that get tax breaks for investing in a German film, but he's getting better with each one.
Postal is supposed to be quite good (a massive improvement) and Seed is supposed to be good, although this isn't based on a game.
And I like the guys style - did you know he offered all his critics out? He told them to take him on in the boxing ring. They thought it was some sort of publicity stunt and agreed and he ended up knocking the s**t out of them.
The guys funny. Leave him to his crap films and tax breaks. Law of averages says he'll make a good job of one of them. Let's hope so anyway cos he's got the rights to Fear Effect and Far Cry.

At least I've heard of most of the people that make games, and saying they have no story is laughable. So I guess Neverwinter Nights never had a plot, neither did the Final Fantasy games, or maybe Half Life or Deus Ex.... Heck even the original Doom had a plot or at least bit of speil to set the scene...

LOL the funny thing is you probably took more time and thought to write that than he takes to make his movies.
People seem to think that if you make movies then you should have a creative streak and be striving for that Oscar. If you can put little effort into films and make money out of it, then fair play to you if that's what you want.
I've never seen a single one of his movies, and I never will. And I don't live with my parents, Uwe. Shows what you know. What an ego. If he used the energy he wastes on attacking critics to actually try to make a decent film, people might well cut him some slack. But that requires effort and intelligence. He took the easy path, the path to the Dark Side.
