Alan Wake to re-emerge in February

Microsoft flags Remedy game as present at next month's GDC
Alan Wake is finally to re-emerge from the bowels of Remedy HQ after months and months out of the public eye.

According to Microsoft's Robbie Bach, the game will be one of the titles that the company will have at next month's GDC in San Francisco.

"...were saving a lot of stuff for GDC, which is where we plan on showing off some big titles such as Halo Wars and Alan Wake", he's revealed.

The last time we had any real Alan Wake meat to sink our teeth into was back in November 2006.

Since then, we've only had dribbles of talk about the game's release date, and developer Remedy telling the world that on PC it should be considered a Vista exclusive.

Alan Wake relates the tale of a horror writer who loses the love of his life and moves to smalltown America to start again - it's promising to be the next classic videogame terrorshow. To find out why, go to our Alan Wake gamepage.

Well about time too. I've been going on about this game for ages now, it's my most anticipated game this year. Fingers crossed that at GDC we may even get a release date, come on MS!

Ive lost insteres in this game sinve the Vista only rubbish, dont get me wrong, i have Vista, i just never use it as its performance is a dog and im not using it just for one game. Then again, by the time thise comes out we'll probably be ready to upgrade to Windows 7 and all games will be DX10 lol

Vista only worries me. Every other vista only has been mediocre at best, and to be honest, I dont see this being any different anymore.
'tis a sad day for alan wake.

The very reason why I've never really got into PC gaming.. shove in the game and play - thats what it's all about for me.

You loose the cutting edge advantage, but I still prefer closed architecture for the ease.

Anyway... this and Too Human are the two games I have my eye on more than anything.

lol, can you imagine bringing a few mates home after the pub with a few tinnies and firing up the PC, lol, it would be cooked with alcohol after 5 minutes

Story reminds me of Silent Hill 2, hope this isn't a rehash with polished visuals.

It's a regular occurance for me and my mates... My PC's still beverage free. My GH3 guitar has had a few spills though...

Alan Wake, looks good but Vista only games do tend to be s**te.

What Vista only games have there been? I can only think of Halo 2.

This is Vista only in the same way that after a couple of years of XP, games were released only for XP. Its part of being a PC gamer. You wouldn't be complaining about it needing a graphics card that was made in the last 2 years, just as you shouldn't be complaining about it requiring Vista.

This being Vista only will also mean that the performance should be vastly superior to other games that have been released recently as they have had to accommodate for XP. So don't worry about performance if your computer has a decent spec.

Vista is a massive resource hog, even if your PC has a decent spec you are still unnecessarily crippling yourself by running Vista.

Shadowrun was crap also.

Meh... not had any performance issues with Vista myself, every game seems to run fine. Technology moves on and with new operating systems they require more power. Just the way things go. If you want to be a gamer move with the technology or stick with a console.

Halo 2
Shadowrun
DX10 modes

All of these have been cracked to work on xp now anyway(well, not really with dx10, but close)

I've been running vista for ages and not seen any performace hits really + im a sucker for the pretty aeroness.
