Kingdom Under Fire gets proper, gorgeous sequel

RTS follow-up takes series back to its roots - MMO features also planned
Blueside and Phantagram have revealed the true sequel to the Kingdom Under Fire series, which will be hitting PC and "consoles" in 2009.

Kingdom Under Fire II, not to be confused with the Xbox 360 action RPG spin-off Circle of Doom, stays true to the series' RTS roots with a hefty single-player campaign and a MMO game mode where thousands of strategy heads can click away together.

The sequel, which is looking rather lush indeed, sports a storyline that carries on from "proper" KUF instalments Crusaders and Heroes, plus a new, mysterious third faction.

Blueside CEO Sejung Kim boldly promises an "immense game that will feature not only field battles, but also titanic siege engines and thousands of units that will swarm over monstrous fortresses in siege battles of epic proportions."

Expect the first previews shortly and check out the first shots below. Doesn't he have a nice beard?

Loved the original game on Xbox but the 360 spin off was pants. This is more like it. Graphics looks great. Certainly be keeping an eye on the progress of this.

Doesn't it feel a bit insulting to make a lousy effort on Circle of Doom...to THEN announce just a few weeks later that the actual sequel is coming next year that will actually follow the format of the 1st one?

I feel bad for those who acutally bought Circle of Doom.

Thank goodness for rentals...

I actually don't mind Circle of Doom. I mean, its hardly revolutionary, but its fun for a while.

This however... just looks awesome. The sheer level of detail on those characters is incredible. *gibbers over the little flecks of rust around joints*

Ahh, now, will this game finally quench my RPG/RTS needs for my 360 - I bloody hope so!
