Development of the Wii version of 2K Games' Civilization Revolution has been stalled indefinitely.
Work on the Firaxis developed strategy sim for Wii has been put on hold, for the time being at least, so that the developer can concentrate on the other versions of the title, according to an IGN report.
"Development for the Wii version of Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution is currently on hold," a 2K Games spokesperson said.
"We are focusing our attention on creating the best possible Civilization experience for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Nintendo DS platforms."
The Civilization series, which has been synonymous with creator Sid Meier since its inception in 1991, has long been viewed as one of the defining PC strategy franchises.
A release date for Civilization Revolution on consoles has yet to be announced.
That was inevitable. You cant expect 3'rd party's to spend money on developing for a system on which no 3'rd party game has done well. Nintendo had better fix the problem with 3'rd pary devs or the wii is simply dead.
I'd disagree there. I think the reason no 3rd party game has done that well on Wii is because 90% of them have been utter crap. And the list of crappy PS2 ports. Because of that, developers have been shirking away from it, scared to take the risk on a system which until recently (thank you Galaxy) nobody thought could crank out nice graphics.
I'm wondering if the real reason they're delaying it is because when people think of the Wii they think of kids and oldies, neither of which groups would be interested in a title which requires a lot of thinking and strategic planning.

I agree with your 3rd parties point, but I think the reason they have delayed it could well be because they are lazy and can't be bothered to create a good control method.
I think this is just the start of a trend, as the numbers of 360/ps3s sold increases, the need to muck about with an outdated piece of kit like the gamecube.....ooops sorry the wii will not be worth the hassle.Oh and please dont slag me off just because its fashionable to be in love with the wii,you know theres some truth in it.
Actually, what's happened is Take Two has so much invested and in debt to Sony that they were going to can the PS3 version to save cash, but when take two and the dev team got to talking about it, there was a bit of a difference of opinion. The publisher basically told the dev team that they can't work on the Wii version UNTIL the other ones were ready to ship.
Classic Take Two behavior, they have been anti-Nintendo since they came on the scene, only releasing half-bottomd games on the Nintendo platforms.
And you say, what about the DS? Simple development cycle, and dirt cheap. Easy money.
Fanboyism is bad, but when its a publisher being a fanboy, it endangers the industry.
