First details on the Saw game

Unreal Engine 3, input from filmmakers, due out next year
The first details on Brash Entertainment's Saw game have arrived via a press conference in the US.

Saw, in case you clicked onto this news story by accident, is the horror film series which sees normal people snatched from their daily lives and put into awkward situations designed to teach them a lesson.

The game, which Brash boldly promises won't be another failed movie-to-game conversion, is powered by the surprisingly unpopular Unreal Engine 3 which presumably means it'll be coming to PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

The game is apparently getting plenty of input from the filmmakers and takes place at various points during the four Saw films (with the fifth due out in the near future).

It's planned to come out at some point next year. Place your bets on whether it'll be worth playing now people.

This is destined to be awful.

I've watched 3 of the films and found them absolutely awful. Boring drivel. So how this will convert into games is beyond me..

How long till the media jump on it, anyway? They've had enough of a fit over Saw calling it "torture porn" and all that. So being involved in "torture porn" isn't going to fit well.

If this game does making it out onto the shelves it will most likely be crap just because it is based on a film.

My guess is a 6 or 7 out of 10 for this game. The developers will know it's going to be crap so will make REALLY easy achievements to help it sell...In which case I'll rent it Wink

I will bet my life on it being another crappy (shouldn't do it) film to game conversion.

Not really what the world (or videogaming) needs.

Hello Brash, I want to play a game...just not this one.

see, it makes me wonder why this kinda game doesnt come to the wii. If you saw the original saw, I think the wii remote would be the best thing for having to cut your own ankle off... ust start sawing through the bone and whatnot.

of course, the game will totally be banned or will be such a crappy iteration, that no one will be able to play it.

I've never been a fan of horror movies, I wouldn't watch the likes of Hostel but I am a huge fan of the Saw series. The tricks it plays on your mind are far scarier and intelligent than anything in terms of the gruesome bodycount.

The original Saw movie is arguably one of the best spooky thrillers ever made, receiving kudos at its launch at Sundance. It's up there with Se7en in terms of direction, tone and huge twist at the end.

If you haven't seen the first one I'd recommend you watch it if you get a chance and make your own mind up.

I'm excited about a game based in the Saw world and hope it's as clever as the twists in the movies are. If the Daily Mail readers get upset it'll be worth it for that alone Smile

The "Saw" films are cool so hopefully they'll do it some justice...but ffs don't consult c**k* on how to produce a product with content over hype!

I love the movies but I just cant see how this will convert into games, I always like to be proven wrong with this kind of thing but I just dont think I will with this one!
bmaindj on 31 Jan '08
Lets get this straight Saw is s**t all it does is rip off other ideas from films like mad max and return of the living dead and tries to shock the audience which if your like me and grew up with films like braindead and bad taste saw seems lame in comparison, the only people who seem to like this drivel are either to young to be watching them or american so please please dont make a game based on these films it can only be bad for the gaming industry.
