As you could probably have guessed from early images of Resistance 2, San Francisco will play host to one of the many huge battles against the Chimera in the sequel, that will take the fight to more recognisable locations across the US than Hull and Grimsby.
The latest Official PlayStation Magazine reports that the sequel will pick up the fight where the first game left off.
The main man, Nathan, goes to the base of the Special Projects Research Administration in Iceland, where he finds out other humans with mutant DNA infections have special healing and telepathic powers.
Insomniac Games president, Ted Price, told OPM UK of how the new, meaner Chimera. Price explained how players will be able to tell when an invisible Chamelion Chimera is near - they will see footprints in the mud or a shimmering outline in rain or smoke. Sounds impressive. And a bit like Predator.
Players can also expect enormous bosses, which Price explains draw influence from another of Insomniac's creations.
"We've taken some of the lessons we've learnt from Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction and used them with a twist. Bosses are significantly larger than anything we've tried in our games. One in particular is several hundred feet tall," he teases.
The co-op feature - for up to eight players - promises to be a full-on campaign, not a tacked-on extra. You will complete objectives that test players' ability to work together.
A new weapon, the Splitter, belonging to the Soldier class in these multiplayer games is like a minigun, "capable of spraying a terrifying barrage of rounds," explains OPM. It also reveals that special powers, such as healing, are charged up by killing aliens, so you need to take out enemies to replenish health - which keeps everyone on their toes.
Sounds great. Will it be this or Killzone 2 that claims the action crown on PS3?
Sounds good. But i'm going for Killzone 2 for the Playstation crown. I just think it will be a lot better. Resistance is good but i got a little bored of the game after the first half last time, when the enemis got larger and the weapons got more out of place. I just thought that those weapons should be in Ratchet and Clank. Yeah, i'll still pick up Resistance 2 to see if the multiplayer has at all improved and hope i can see some Human vs human battles which i prefer.
I just think Killzone 2 will get it because i think the online will be more realistice and the way i like it, a bit more in depth maybe, and a great Single Player (i liked the first one, but hope it has got a lot better)

Totally agree....but i'm still gonna get resistance.
I'll still get it even though i think Killzone will beat it but that is because i trust the games Company Insomniac. Sure, i preferred Crash to Spyro, but Ratchet and Clank is a great series, and it stays fresh all the time, changing only what is needed and they all stand up well against each other. They learn and improve, look at the replay value of the new Ratchet and Clanks compared to the first one (though i loved the first one completely-i loved the enemy Drek and the weapons. Genius). Then weapon upgrades etc. which make the game better.
If Insomniac can improve and change Resistance the way they have managed to do with R&C, it'll be a great game. Especially since it ill be their Third PS3 game so, as said previously, they'll be used to the hardware.
the boss battles intrigue me but i am wanting more weapons and powers for Hale, to show he is developing, so that we can use them, gradually get more and more, or more powerful as powers, until you finally have to stop them or let them control you in the third
he got healing powers in the original, maybe he will get the telepathy or invisibility as he meets new creatures
Sounds absolutely brilliant, if they can pull it off that is. However it is Insomiac so my money says they will. Can't wait for 60 player online as well.
Res 2 over Killzone 2; there hasn't been a decent Killzone yet so why does everyone think Killzone 2 is going to be a great game - it's just hype.
Res 2 progression from Res 1 looks good and likely to be one for christmas hols too.
thats exactly the same thing i was gonna say the first killzone was a pretty average game nothing special about it resistance 1 was a good game decent campaign and a good online multiplayer so if insomniac keep on the same track for resistance 2 then they should have a AAA game
Two seperate campaigns, one for single plater, another for 8 player co-op.
Add to that the regular online multiplayer and we have some of the best value for money seen since the orange box except with all new content instead of old and finally someone using blu ray to our benefit for once. Big ups to Insomniac!!!!!!!!!!

Assuming the coop works. The more people playing online coop, the more can go wrong. Halo 3 was just ridiculously laggy with 4 people playing so 8 could be a nightmare... but if they pull it off this looks to be incredible.
If the bosses are as epic as they sound, and the new enemies are as smart and tricky as they sound, then this could be awesome. If they get the multiplayer right then this could well be one of the best games out there. Graphically it looks great and as long as it has the original Resistances 'feel' then it will be a hit.
I hated online 4 the first game, so 60 people online doesn't appeal 2 me at all. 8 player co-op sounds good though.
I may not like the online but 60 people online is quite an attachment. That's entering PC territory since most console games have 12-32 people per match.
