First Mass Effect PC screens

BioWare touts the superior(?) PC version of its sci-fi epic inside
Yesterday BioWare didn't surprise us at all by revealing Mass Effect was coming PC. But it did surprise us by giving out a release date of as soon as May.

You can read yesterday's news here, along with details on how the game will be enhanced for its PC outing.

First shots from the PC version below.

Anyone got this on 360? Was thinking of buying but may hold off if the PC version is so close.

Interface always looked like it would work better with a mouse anyway, although they appear to have left the dialogue option selection control pad friendly..

All I can say in recommending this game is that even after playing through the game 3 times I still saw this article and thought about buying it to play again on my PC. Love it.

Only difference I can see is on the top left of the screen shots - that chart. Not sure what it is, can't make it out. Could be the hot key list of biotic/tech powers I guess...

I played it on 360 and got lost in its world, its a classic 360 title, not perfect by any means.
Im looking forward to the sequel.

I thought the same thing, but thought it was CVG croony screenshot resizing until i went to the official site( http://masseffect.bioware.com/gallery/index.html?g=11#gal-screens ) and the screenies are the same resolution Shocked

The 360 version was superb but the engine was a bit creaky, what with all the framerate hitching, screen tearing and long loading times. In that respect, the PC version running off the HDD could be the best version yet and it'll certainly benefit from an extra lick of polish.
Darren1967 on 13 Feb '08
The main difference will be in the size of textures, the PC version with be in true HD, so it'll looka lot sharper, but these screenies are too small to really see a difference.

I bought this game the day it came out but I have only played it for 3 hours before I gave up. It's crap in my opinion...aimlessly wondering back and forth lookiing for people, long loading times, iffy combat, tearing...the conversations you can have on this game aren't that good either. When ever I died and spoke to the same person I chose a different option...only to find about 1 sentence in the conversation had changed and that the out come was the same.

I'll stick to the fast paced FPS games thank you very much! Very Happy

i must admit i had forgoten all about the hours spent in lifts and airlocks on the 360 version. drakes fortune on ps3 has zero loading times apart from boot up for the entire game. how come one publisher can do this but not another?
roger4000 on 13 Feb '08
Some games get around loading times by having areas with no monsters and rather bland scenery; as you move through these areas, the data for the previous areas are removed from memory and the data for the next areas are added.

The God of War games do this, and by the sound of it so does Drake's Fortune.

SWIV was the first game to do that on the Amiga Razz

This was one of the games that was making me want a 360. Guess I'll hold off for the PC version then!
